Job description

Job Description:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Part-Time Commercial Banking Intern to support various functions within our Commercial Banking team. This role provides hands-on exposure to deposit operations, commercial lending, treasury management services, customer relationship support, and loan administration. The intern will work closely with relationship managers, credit analysts, treasury management officers, and operations personnel to assist in delivering exceptional service to business clients while gaining practical experience in a large community banking environment. This position is ideal for a student pursuing a degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or related field who is interested in developing a career in commercial banking.
Expectations
  • Assist with the opening and maintenance of business deposit accounts, including checking, savings, money market, and certificate of deposit accounts.
  • Support customer onboarding activities and documentation collection.
  • Review account opening packages for completeness and compliance with bank policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist commercial lenders and credit analysts with gathering and organizing financial information.
  • Support the preparation of credit presentations and loan approval packages.
  • Analyze financial statements, tax returns, and other borrower information under supervision.
  • Conduct industry, market, and borrower research to support underwriting decisions.
  • Assist in monitoring existing loan relationships and covenant compliance.
  • Assist Treasury Management Officers with client analysis and product evaluations.
  • Support treasury management onboarding and implementation activities for new commercial clients.
  • Assist with commercial loan closing processes and documentation tracking.
  • Coordinate with lenders, credit administration, legal counsel, and operations teams to ensure timely loan closings.
  • Maintain loan files and assist with document imaging and record retention.
  • Track post-closing documentation and exception items.
  • Provide responsive support to commercial banking clients and internal partners.
  • Assist with client inquiries and service requests.
  • Support relationship managers with meeting preparation, client correspondence, and portfolio administration.
  • Help maintain accurate customer and account information within bank systems.
Qualifications
  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
Preferred
Coursework in financial accounting, corporate finance, banking, or economics.
Prior internship, banking, financial services, or customer service experience.
Interest in commercial banking, credit analysis, treasury management, or relationship management.
