How you'll make an impact:
SiriusXM is seeking a Publicity Intern interested in gaining hands-on experience supporting a dynamic Communications team. This role offers the opportunity to learn how strategic communications and media relations help shape the stories behind one of the world's leading audio entertainment companies.
The Communications team supports a broad portfolio of content and business initiatives across music, entertainment, comedy, podcasting, sports and news. While the internship will provide exposure across all of these categories, we're looking for someone with a particular passion and focus on sports and news and an interest in the media landscape surrounding both.
What you'll do:
  • Assist the Publicity team with day-to-day communications initiatives and media relations efforts focused heavily on sports, news and talk programming.
  • Monitor and track media coverage across print, broadcast, digital and social platforms.
  • Compile regular media coverage reports, press recaps and communications metrics.
  • Conduct research on media outlets, journalists, industry trends and competitive activity.
  • Help develop and maintain targeted media lists and editorial calendars.
  • Assist with drafting and proofreading press materials, including press releases, media alerts, and reporter pitches.
  • Assist with media events, interviews, press announcements and other communications activities.
  • Participate in team meetings, brainstorming sessions and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Perform other duties as required.

What you'll need:
  • Internships are open to current students enrolled at a university (MBA students graduating by September 2027 are preferred) and recent graduates who graduated within the 12-month period prior to the start of the internship
  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, English, Broadcasting, or a related field.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Interest in media, storytelling, and the evolving communications landscape.
  • Passion for sports and news, with curiosity about the media, personalities, and stories shaping both the sports and political industries.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace; experience with media monitoring or communications tools such as Muck Rack and Critical Mention is a plus.
  • A collaborative attitude, strong work ethic, and eagerness to learn.
  • Experience with automation and/or AI tools such as chatGPT, Gemini
  • Must have legal right to work in the U.S.

At SiriusXM, we carefully consider a wide range of factors when determining compensation, including your background and experience. These considerations can cause your compensation to vary. We expect the base salary for this position to be $18/hr and will depend on your skills, qualifications, and experience. Additionally, this role might be eligible for discretionary short-term and long-term incentives. We encourage all interested candidates to apply.
