Position Summary

The Technical Writer is responsible for creating, revising, and maintaining high-quality technical documentation for Vanair’s compressor and mobile power equipment product lines. This role works closely with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and service teams to translate complex technical information into clear, accurate, and user-friendly documentation for customers, service technicians, and internal stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain operator manuals, service manuals, installation guides, safety documentation, and technical bulletins.
  • Translate engineering designs, schematics, and technical specifications into clear written content.
  • Collaborate with engineering, product management, and field service teams to gather and verify technical information.
  • Edit and standardize documentation to ensure clarity, consistency, and quality.
  • Ensure documentation meets applicable safety, regulatory, and quality standards.
  • Maintain document control including revisions and change tracking.
  • Support new product launches by delivering documentation aligned with production timelines.
  • Create or coordinate diagrams, illustrations, and graphics as needed.
  • Review documentation for accuracy, grammar, and usability.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Technical Writing, Engineering, English, Communications, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in technical writing within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Experience documenting mechanical or electromechanical systems, preferably compressors or mobile power equipment.
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat tools.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in compressor, heavy equipment, or industrial manufacturing industries.
  • Familiarity with document control systems or PLM platforms.
  • Understanding of safety and regulatory documentation standards.
  • Basic mechanical or electrical knowledge.
