Job description

Role Overview

We'reย looking for a Combustion Analysis Engineer to perform fluid, thermal, and structural analyses on our novel combustion systems-bringing high-performance engineering to the fight against climate change.ย You'llย work closely with combustion engineers and designers to inform and accelerate development using advanced simulation tools, algorithmic workflows, and additive manufacturing. Your work will help bridge modeling and reality through system integration and hot-fire test validation.ย 

This is an onsite opportunity in our El Segundo, CA office.ย 

Responsibilities
  • Perform CFD, transient thermal, and structural analyses on combustion hardware.ย 
  • Collaborate with combustion and mechanical engineers to develop practical, testable designs.ย 
  • Use integrated system models to inform design direction and support performance prediction.ย 
  • Help anchor simulation results with hot-fire test data and iterate models accordingly.ย 
  • Contribute to a fast-paced, collaborative team with a focus on climate-impactful technology.ย 
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or related Engineering field.ย 
  • 3+ years of experience in fluid dynamics, CFD, structural and transient thermal analysis.ย 
  • Strong foundationย in compressible and incompressible fluid mechanics.ย 
  • Experience with ANSYS Mechanical or similar analysis suites.
  • Proficient in Python, MATLAB,ย orย similar scripting tools for automation and post-processing.ย 
  • Strongย ownershipย mentality and eagerness to work collaboratively in a small, dynamic team.ย 
Preferred Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in propulsion or combustion analysis.ย 
  • Master's or Ph.D. in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.ย 
  • Experience working in startup or agile development environments.ย 
  • Familiarity with conjugate heat transfer simulations.ย 
  • Interest in or ability to lead and grow a small analysis team over time.ย

Base Pay: $130,000 - $150,000 USD/year.ย The salary is subject to the applicant's skills, qualifications, experience, and geographic location.
