Position: Field Service Engineer

About the job:

Analytical & Combustion Systems [ACS], a Subsidiary of Preferred Holdings Company, is a manufacturer’s representative located in Bethel, CT with a variety of lines that serve industrial, commercial, and large-scale residential steam and hot water plants. ACS is looking for the right candidate for a field service engineer position located in and covering North and South Dakota. The ideal candidate will have formal college or trade school education and have experience in the industrial and commercial boiler market. Daily travel throughout the territory is required, but overnight trips will be very rare.

Nature and Scope of Position:

This position is primarily technical in nature and requires knowledge of fuel oil supply and tank gauging systems, the design and operation of control systems, data acquisition systems, and PLC’s. Due to the high visibility this position has to customers, the holder of this position is required to maintain a high level of diplomacy with the customer at all times and act in the best interest of Analytical & Combustion Systems. The holder of this position is expected to make every effort to remain current with the ever-developing technology concerning this trade and be familiar with the general overview of represented manufacturers’ equipment and the services it supplies to the industry. All policies noted in the Service Policy Handbook are applicable to this position. Although primarily based in a particular territory, travel for the purpose of performing the duties of this position are unlimited at the discretion of the department supervisors.

Responsibilities of this Position:

1. Provide technical assistance as needed to customers or other employees of ACS. This includes providing troubleshooting assistance over the phone, supplying documentation and follow-up to ensure timely and effective customer support. Provide equipment operations and maintenance training to customers.

2. Daily complete a Service Report in the manner outlined in the ACS Services Policy Handbook.

3. Access company server and Apps to upload and download documentation, service reports, product manuals, and electrical/mechanical prints.

4. Install, start-up, and service on an as needed basis all equipment sold by ACS in addition to any customers’ equipment ACS Services wishes to take the responsibility for. All work performed must be in compliance with ACS standards and policies and comply with all the applicable codes as stated by the authority having jurisdiction in the area where the work is being performed.

5. Promote the sales of maintenance contracts, spare parts and/or new equipment.

6. Configure and program as instructed by engineering any controls or systems being commissioned or serviced by ACS Services. Supply home office Engineering all updated configurations, programs, marked up prints, etc.

7. Provide tangible feedback via a “Blind Field Service Reports” and QC reports to engineering on the operation and performance of new equipment, control panels and design concepts.

8. Perform electrical troubleshooting on fuel oil control systems and field devices.

9. Self-motivated study of current and new equipment and technical control and operation of combustion and fuel oil systems.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $70,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year, DOE

Supplemental pay types: bonus; commission on spare parts sold; company vehicle available for personal use
