Title: Production Operator I
Location: Richmond, VA
Pay: $21 per hour
Hours: 1st Shift - 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
• Read, understand and follow batch tickets to achieve production schedule
• Gather and weigh ingredients (Scale operation)
• Combine ingredients in a designated sequence
• Provide samples to the Quality Control lab
• Pack and label the product into designated containers
• Operate equipment with an inserting system
• Trouble shoot mixing equipment
• Clean the equipment and plant and dispose the waste
• Responsible for stock rotation and minimizing partial containers
• Responsible for ingredient traceability
• Proficient in all areas of and the ability to operate SAP Inventory function and perform inventory cycle counts
• Conduct preliminary quality checks
• Report near miss incidents and improvement opportunities
• Participate actively in all plant safety initiatives, programs and training sessions
• Participate on plant teams and serves as a trainer for employees and/or new hires
• Comply with OSHA required activities for PIT
• Comply with DOT regulations for Hazardous Material transport
• Wear appropriate PPE at all times and maintain a clean work area
• ISO - Follow all standard operating procedures with respect to performance of position duties and stays updated on all applicable procedures
• Performs other related duties as assigned
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:
• ability to learn quickly
• Ability to follow directions and work well in a team
• Verbal and written communication skills
• Math skills and ability to work with percentages
• Capable of repeatedly lifting 55+ lbs. and standing for long periods of time
• Ability to work on elevated surfaces using stairs or step stools when required.
• Ability to work 40 hrs. weekly and overtime
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
• High School Diploma/GED
• 1+ years of experience in a production/manufacturing environment, preferably in batch manufacturing
• Sit-down and/or stand-up experience preferred.
• Experience following safety procedures.
• Experience working around flammable material a plus
