Description
Main Purpose:
The Equipment Operator is responsible for the operation of various equipment (Combilifts, hydraulic cherry pickers, forklifts, overhead cranes etc.) within our warehouse, shop and yard.
Essential Functions:
  • Operate and utilize the Combilift, overhead crane, cherry pickers and / or forklift to pick up and move heavy objects and materials
  • Inspect all equipment prior to operation to ensure that it has proper lubricants, fuel etc. and to report any problems that will need immediate attention by the mechanic / maintenance department
  • Check switches and gears to ensure that the equipment operates safely
  • Utilize foot, hand and steering controls on various equipment
  • Operate all equipment safely and efficiently
  • Perform rigging duties on occasions when riggers are not available to set-up for certain lifting assignments
  • Perform general labor around the warehouse, shop and yard
  • Follow instructions and job assignments with little or no supervision
  • Perform other duties assigned by supervisor

Requirements
Physical Requirements:
  • Standing, sitting, walking, stooping, kneeling, climbing, feeling, talking, hearing and seeing

Environmental Conditions:
80 to 90% of the work activities are performed outdoors. Individuals will be required to work in changes of temperature, hot, cold, humid, wet and dry conditions, dust, mud etc. They will also be exposed to paint thinner and paint fumes.
