Job description

Position Summary:
Technical Specialist of Quality Control Department in an automotive manufacturing environment. Oversee Paint Quality Control Lab. Oversee test lab equipment, incoming paint material, on-line audit evaluations, and Quality Non-Conformance Report ("QNCR") process. Coordinate with QC Line Inspection team and Production team to ensure accurate communication and understanding of off-line and on-line issues.
Essential Functions:
  • Make critical decisions regarding color match acceptance, E-coat, sealer, primer, and topcoat applications that affect customer satisfaction, warranty claims, and production downtime.
  • Purchase, operate, and maintain a variety of paint and coatings test equipment.
  • Develop and coordinate paint quality audits and QNCR program.
  • Promptly identify and analyze problems related to manufacturing process and/or materials.
  • Serve as liaison between suppliers, Lab, and Production.
  • Conduct material testing and analysis of incoming basecoat, clear coat, and sealers.
  • Identify and improve sealer, corrosion, & water leak issue with paint department and suppliers.
  • Control costs of Test Lab with established budget.
  • Perform internal audits, external supplier audits, and lab equipment calibration.
  • Administer, coordinate, and comply with all Business Management System (BMS), Environmental Management System (EMS), and Safety Management System (SMS) requirements. Team Member may be required to handle hazardous wastes which may include identifying, inspecting, packaging, labelling, and moving waste in compliance with RCRA regulations. Relevant training will be provided if assigned these job duties.
  • Meet all other requirements as assigned.

Education:
Bachelor's Degree (Chemical degree or Biology degree) or equivalent preferred
Related Experience:
  • 0 - 10 years of job related experience preferred
  • Experience with paint in R&D or manufacturing environment

Additional Information:
