Job description

Job Title: Logistics Technician

Reports To: Logistics Supervisor

Department: Logistics

Shift: Monday thru Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM

Salary: $18 an hour, with the chance to earn up to $4 more through our Pay for Knowledge Program.

Incentive: 2 BONUSES A YEAR!

Summary: Provide Material Handling needs for the facility. Use of various types of material handling equipment to store and retrieve materials. Record and track inventory information to ensure inventory accuracy, performing PRIMOS computer transactions. Review documentation to ensure accurate shipment and receipt of materials.  Package materials as requested. Perform housekeeping duties, keeping storage areas and warehouse clean and orderly. Support UC philosophy focused on facilitating the growth of the organization, continually improving quality, and driving to a world class safety and environmental culture.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Operate company truck
  • Identify material for shipment, correctly labeling material, and review bills of lading to ensure error free shipments
  • If needed, repack material correctly to ensure inventory accuracy. Redistribute product for customer orders in appropriate containers by using barrel and or Gaylord dumper, or manual transfer.
  • Load and unload trucks
  • Ensure error free shipments by utilizing audits, and verification of packing slips to Bill of Ladings
  • Coordinate the movement of material between company facilities
  • Basic knowledge of receiving function
  • Record warehouse material movements and make corresponding PRIMOS transactions.
  • Perform activities to ensure inventory accuracy
  • Operate floor scrubbers to clean floors throughout the facility
  • Responsible for cleanliness of work area
  • Follow UC Quality System-approved work instructions and procedures and help improve these as needed
  • Responsible for successful facilitation of all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Run Blender, using software on machine, assuring accurate blends of material to meet customer requirements
  • Run grinder, using settings predetermined to meet requirements of materials for use in production.

Preferred Experience, Training, and Skills:

  • 1-3 years material handling experience preferred
  • Licensed hi-lo driver preferred
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Math skills
  • Computer knowledge and experience
  • Class B CDL or willing to obtain once in the role

Physical Requirements: Able to lift up to 50 lbs.

Preferred Education: High School Diploma or GED.
