Job description

Laboratory Technician

Location: Tampa, FL, 33605

Pay rate: $26-$28

Schedule: 8-4:30pm M-F


Job Summary:

The Lab Technician will play a critical supporting role on the Research & Development (R&D) team, working under the direct supervision of selected lab chemists. This position will involve hands-on support of R&D Chemists on a variety of coatings, adhesives and related product development and product testing projects. The Lab Technician will be responsible for lab batch manufacturing, materials testing, and application trials while ensuring accurate documentation and data reporting.


Key Responsibilities:

Assist R&D Chemists on assigned projects by preparing materials and supporting formulation tasks.

Manufacture lab-scale batches of insulation and adhesive formulations with a high degree of accuracy and consistency.

Conduct product testing including but not limited to application trials and performance evaluation.

Apply coatings and conduct evaluations per project testing protocols.

Develop competency in color matching for coating and adhesive products.

Maintain accurate and organized records of lab activities and testing results.

Present organized data and findings to the lead chemist or R&D team during project updates.

Ensure laboratory safety protocols are followed and workspaces are clean and organized.

May be asked to watch specific plant batches and to get raw materials from the plant for lab use.


Requirements:

College level science coursework

Preferred Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in a physical science area

Lab experience involving coatings or adhesives is preferred but not required.

Comfortable with the physical demands of product manufacturing, including the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Comfortable handling solvents and other chemicals, wearing protective equipment when needed and reading Safety Data Sheets explaining chemical hazards

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).

Strong attention to detail, organization, and the ability to work independently.

A self-starter with a positive attitude and willingness to learn.
