COLOR COATER OPERATOR - 3rd ShiftJOB DIMENSIONS

  • ACTIVITIES
  • To operate the coating line with precision and skill for producing the required number of quality, coated, color sheets for each job.
  • Read each job ticket and follow the Department Manager’s instructions regarding specifications for coating. This would include type and weight of paper, number of sheets per color (check chip outage), proper film thickness, length of coated sheets, and setting oven temperature and line speed.
  • Perform setup for blade and stripe coating jobs with the help of the Coater Cutter.
  • Ensure that the colors received from matching are properly mixed and strained before coating.
  • Produce a sample of each color being coated for quality control purposes. Check the color match between coated sheets and the approved standards
  • Keep the Color Manager well informed of problems encountered in the coating process.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Follow all work instructions and procedures for the Coating Department.
  • Responsible for performing any duties which would enhance the overall efficiency of the department and company.
  • Responsible for properly handling, storing, and following procedures associated with hazardous material/waste and complying with EPA and OSHA standards. Keep hazardous waste container closed, except when adding waste. Label hazardous waste containers and ensure labels have been correctly dated
  • CONTEXT AND ENVIRONMENT
  • This position is at Dorn Color plant location on Berea Road off West 117th Street in Cleveland
  • The job reports to the Color Manager
  • This is for either 1st shift, or 3rd shift
  • 3rd shift carries a shift differential as part of its hourly pay package.
  • Plant environment, not climate controlled
  • ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Be able meet the key KPI’s for the setup time, run time and quality
  • QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
  • 13 years’ experience in running large coating equipment or equivalent machinery
  • Good mechanical aptitude
  • Basic math skills
  • Good communication skills
  • Good organizational skills
  • Good color eye
  • Ability to lift 50lbs
