Job description

Summit Santa Clara currently has an open position for Lab Technician (3rd shift). Summit Interconnect is a manufacturer of advanced technology printed circuit boards with a specific focus on complex rigid and rigid-flex product with unique expertise in RF/Microwave applications.

The Lab Technician’s responsibility is to provide support to Quality and the Process Departments through analyses, process monitoring, preparing, and evaluating microsections.

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must have a minimum of three (3) years’ experience in the printed circuit board industry and must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactory. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform chemical analyses.
  • Calculate chemical make-ups.
  • Make chemical additions or notify wet process operators of required adds.
  • Data entry into the Lab SPC software program (True-Chem).
  • Utilize the Atomic Absorption for analyses.
  • Utilize the CMI for surface finish thickness verification.
  • Proper setup, use, cleaning, and shutdown of lab equipment.
  • Updating and maintaining laboratory files and logs.
  • Communication with appropriate personnel for product disposition.
  • Provide chemical and performance data for process troubleshooting.
  • Prioritize lab workload accordingly.
  • SPC chart generation and incorporation of SPC Tools.
  • Manual preparation of in-process and final cross sections.
  • Automatic grinding machine preparation of cross sections.
  • Perform thermal stress and solder ability tests on Micro section coupons.
  • Maintaining traceability of cross section to product lot and panel source.
  • Proper setup, use, cleaning, and shutdown of Micro section equipment.
  • Evaluation of cross sections to the IPC/customer requirements for in-process quality.
  • Evaluation of cross sections to the IPC/customer requirements for final quality.
  • Report generation of Micro section analysis.
  • Maintenance of archived Micro section reports-hard copies and electronic copies.
  • Maintenance of archived Micro sections. Requires standing and placing boxes in storage areas.
  • Control of lot status, including segregation of passed, failed, and inspected product.
  • Maintaining and updating Micro section Log.
  • Communication with appropriate personnel for product disposition.
  • Micro section inventory control.
  • Prioritize Micro section workload accordingly.
  • Failure analysis of product as needed.

Requirements/Education/Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance.
  • instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
  • Must have very good concentration, must be able remain focused with minor interruptions.

Compensation/Benefits: Summit offers a variety of health and benefit programs. Which include Medical, Dental, Vision, HSA plans, Hospital and Accident plans, Life Insurance, PTO, and Paid Holidays. Benefits are effective 1st day of the month following date of hire.

Pay Range for this position is $21.00 - $25.00 hour based on experience.
