We are currently seeking a Press Assistant for our Sugar Land, Texas facility.
The Press Assistant is responsible for assisting the Press Operator in setting up and operating a Windmoller & Holscher printing machine safely and effectively.
Hourly Rate: $17.00 - $19.00
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Complies with established safety policies and procedures and other regulations as applicable.
• Orders film and packaging from the warehouse.
• Load, position, and adjust unprinted materials on holding fixtures or in equipment loading and feeding mechanisms.
• Blend, manage, mix, store, and maintain solvent based inks according to types of material being printed and work order specifications.
• Ability to troubleshoot equipment and process issues.
• Generates labels to track production output and labels output rolls.
• Generates labels to track production scrap and labels scrap rolls.
• Packages and palletizes material utilizing a hoist.
• Operating electric forklifts to maneuver pallets to designate areas.
• Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of press components and work area.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Ability to work as part of a team.
• Basic math skills, required. Must pass the New Hire Base Assessment Test, which measures basic arithmetic and mechanical aptitude.
• Must have good color vision and attention to detail. Comfortable with computer applications including Excel and Word.
• Ability to use basic hand tools.
• Ability to operate stand-up and sit-down forklifts.
• Manual coordination and dexterity.
• Experience working in a manufacturing environment preferred.
• 12-hour shift work experience preferred.
Language Skills:
• Ability to read, understand and comprehend documents such as safety rules, internal quality procedures, and quality check lists. Ability to communicate production and machine issues to supervisors and others in work areas.
Physical Requirements:
• Periodic lifting to approx.50 lbs.
• Walking, squatting, crouching, turning, twisting, stretching, climbing steps, grabbing, pulling, pushing & bending.
• Ability to move large and/or odd shaped heavy objects.
• Hearing & color vision acuity for machine set-up.
