LG Chem Ohio Petrochemical, Inc. (LGCOP) has a newly created entry level, 12-month Quality Assurance & Color Design Internship position to support our Quality Assurance Team at our Ravenna, Ohio ABS Compounding Facility. Reporting to the QA Manager, the Intern - Quality Assurance & Color Design will gain hands-on experience in product testing, process monitoring, color evaluation, documentation, and compliance with quality management systems.

This position provides supervised exposure to both quality assurance and color design functions within a polymer compounding environment, supporting the production of high-quality ABS materials that meet customer and regulatory requirements. This is a 12-month internship requiring full-time onsite availability (40 hours per week) during the summer months and part-time onsite availability (10-20 hours per week) during the academic year. The full time onsite work schedule is Monday to Friday 8 AM to 5 PM.

The goal of this program is to prepare future candidates for LG Chem. What You'll Be Doing Essential Functions (included but are not limited to): Quality Assurance Support Assist with quality testing and inspection activities for raw materials, in-process materials, and finished ABS products under supervision. Support collection, organization, and analysis of quality data, including test results, trends, and deviations.

Assist in investigating non-conformances, deviations, and quality issues by gathering data and supporting root cause analysis activities. Support QA team with corrective and preventive action (CAPA) activities, documentation, and follow-up. Assist in maintaining and updating quality documentation, including SOPs, work instructions, control plans, and test methods.

Participate in internal audits and compliance activities related to ISO 9001, IATF 16949, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001, under supervision. Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, consistency, and process capability. Color Design Support Assist with color evaluations, color matching, and color data analysis using spectrophotometers, light booths, and related laboratory equipment.

Support color development and color correction activities following established prescriptions and procedures. Record and maintain color history, color recipes, and color measurement data accurately. Assist in preparing and testing color samples using laboratory and pilot-scale equipment such as extruders and injection molding machines, under supervision.

Support investigation and resolution of color-related quality issues in coordination with QA, Production, and Engineering teams. General Safely handle chemicals, colorants, and materials in accordance with EHS requirements and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS). Follow all EHS policies, laboratory safety rules, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).

Participate in safety training, observations, and audits as required. Work closely with QA, QC, Color Design, Production, Maintenance, and Engineering teams to gain cross-functional exposure. Uphold the Jeong-Do Management (Code of Ethics).

Perform other duties as assigned in support of Quality Assurance and Color Design departmental objectives. Qualifications, Skills, and Experience: What We're Looking For Competencies / Desired Skills: Basic understanding of engineering, materials, or quality principles. Interest in quality assurance, quality systems, and color design within a manufacturing environment.

Color perception ability (no color blindness or color weakness). Attention to detail with strong documentation and data accuracy habits. Analytical mindset with problem solving attitude.

Ability to follow established procedures and work safely in a laboratory and manufacturing environment. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint). Willingness to learn quality systems, ERP, QMS, laboratory equipment, and color measurement tools. Familiarity with SI units and basic data analysis concepts preferred.

Education: Currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Manufacturing, Polymer, Materials Science, Plastics Engineering, or a related technical discipline. Completion of sophomore year or higher preferred. Experience / Qualifications: Prior internship, co-op, laboratory, research, quality or manufacturing experience is a plus but not required.
