This role allows you to focus on assessments, medication administration, and patient education without the heavy lifting and constant call demands often found in nursing homes or hospitals.

Work Schedule:
Day Shift: 12 hours on a 2-2-3 rotation
Night shift: 12 hours on a 2-2-3 rotation
What You'll Do:
Key Responsibilities
• Perform thorough medical evaluations, physical examinations, and assessments of the inmate population, addressing both routine and complex medical needs.
• Provide daily nursing care, first aid, and emergency medical treatment in accordance with physician-approved protocols.
• Conduct daily nurse sick calls, ensuring timely and appropriate care for all inmates.
• Administer medications, including injections, following the Medical Director's orders, and monitor the use of medications in compliance with the Code of Virginia.
• Perform venipuncture and collect other laboratory specimens, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in all procedures.
• Operate and maintain medical equipment such as oxygen tanks, blood pressure equipment, glucose testing devices, and emergency response tools.
• Complete detailed reports and medical forms, assist with the physician’s sick call, and perform other medical duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For:
A High School diploma and/or GED is required.
Graduated from an accredited School of Nursing, with licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN), or awaiting licensure.
(1) year of LPN experience in a clinic environment preferred.
Must possess a valid driver’s license.
Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
Resilience and Compassion: Working in a correctional facility requires a balance of empathy and toughness, ensuring that all inmates receive the care they deserve.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and critical thinking skills.
