Length of Position: 2026 - 2027 AY.
Training/Arrival Period (Required):
  • Move-in to the Residence Halls, Wednesday, September 2nd; 4:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.
  • Training Begins, Thursday, September 3rd; 1:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.
  • New Student Move-in: Friday, September 4; 7:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
  • Move-in Transition: Saturday, September 5 - Sunday, September 6
    • Dates without timeframes will be defined for the staff member during the Training.

Supervisor: Associate Dean of Students for Residence Life & Student Conduct/Designee
Wage Range: $12.00-13.00/hour
I.Description of the Position: This position provides videography support for the Residence Life Team. Secondary support will be provided for social media engagement and strategy, website management, and visual asset content through photography and or videography. The position acts as a representative for Residence Life. The individual will do the following: create, support, and integrate themselves into the office's branding through physical, visual, and social media content. The position requires an individual to demonstrate extroverted characteristics and have the ability to engage in verbal and electronic dialogue to demonstrate the value of on-campus living.
II. Transferable Skills:
  • Multimedia Production: Shooting and editing high-quality video content using production equipment and editing software
  • Digital File Systems: Organizing and tracking a digital media database for reliable long-term content storage
  • Campaign Coordination: Integrating short-form video assets into social media marketing strategies to promote campus housing
  • Public Engagement: Pitching visual concepts and interacting with students confidently to capture authentic campus life stories.

III.Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Content Creation and Design:
  • Create, assist, and coordinate content for Residence Life official flyers and informational pamphlets with visuals
  • Create innovative graphic marketing materials

  1. Video Management:
  • Review and edit all videos within the Residence Life
  • Assist in coordinating various marketing methods using photos and videos

  1. Marketing and Communications Strategy:
  • Develop social media tactics in relation to the Marketing and Communications Office
  • Create and utilize an electronic file database for the storage of all content

  1. Professional Development:
  • Attend all training, in-services, and development meetings requested by the Residence Life Office.

IV. Qualifications: (Education/Experience/Skills)
  • Must be enrolled in a degree program at St. Olaf College during the academic year and maintain good standing in academics and conduct.
  • Must maintain a cumulative/semester GPA of 2.5 if a student staff member's GPA (semester/cumulative) falls below 2.5, their retention will be based on individual consultation.
  • Students should have no pending cases, active sanctions, and/or resolved cases that would prevent effective performance as student staff members.

V.Qualifications (Experience/Skills):
  • Ability to act with discretion and exercise proper professional etiquette as it pertains to confidential information.
  • Demonstrated experience in photography, including knowledge of camera operation, composition, lighting, and basic photo editing.
  • Proficiency with photography equipment (DSLR or mirrorless cameras) and familiarity with editing software such as Adobe Lightroom and/or Adobe Photoshop.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage photo files and meet deadlines for event coverage.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace is required. Experience with Adobe Illustrator is a plus.
