A Day in the Life as an ECE Teacher Student Intern:
As an ECE Teacher Student Intern you will be responsible for shadowing and assisting the Lead Teacher in providing a quality educational experience for the children enrolled.
Your day will involve:
  • Participates in the daily activities planned for the children.
  • Assists the teachers to actively supervise all children inside and outside of the classroom by following the Supervision of Children policy and zoning procedures.
  • Engages in appropriate adult-child interactions carefully attending to the social/emotional relationship.
  • Assists in daily classroom routines, such as food preparation, toileting, tooth brushing, cleanup procedures and rest time (as applicable).
  • Assists with the clean-up of the classroom each day to ensure that all areas are organized and in safe repair for the next day's program.
  • Participates in the daily review of classroom activities and children's behaviors with classroom teachers.
  • Consult with Teacher when problems arise.
  • Adheres to the Center's policies, Head Start Performance Standards, and New Hampshire Child Care Licensing Rules.
  • Develops a plan for professional growth in early childhood education.
  • Meets with Lead Teacher regularly to discuss things that are going well, current challenges, and complete school's requirements of the internship to help support professional growth.

Requirements
Qualifications to Be an ECE Teacher Student Intern
To excel in this role, you'll need:
Education: enrolled in a high school level Extended Learning Opportunity program or enrolled in a ECE college program or related field
Experience: completed or enrolled in ECE course
Skills: Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Characteristics: Attention to detail, confidentiality, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to fostering a positive workplace and early childhood classroom experience.
Technical: successful completion of criminal record check, CPR/First Aid certification
A valid driver's license and reliable transportation may be required for occasional travel between program locations.
