About This Role
Reporting to the Director of Athletics, the Head Coach - Men's Volleyball is responsible for managing all aspects of the intercollegiate men's volleyball program. The Head Coach - Men's Volleyball will be responsible for monitoring of student-athletes' academic progress and promoting a culture that fosters the priority of academic achievement while protecting the integrity of the men's volleyball program and building a sustainable tradition within the volleyball program. The Head Coach - Men's Volleyball will be responsible for evaluating and recruiting potential student-athletes, developing current student-athletes, evaluating opponents, creating and implementing practice plans and creating and implementing game strategies.
Summary of Duties
What You'll Do:
  • Promote a culture that fosters the priority of academic achievement while protecting the integrity of the men's volleyball program and building sustainable tradition within the volleyball program.
  • Promote a student-athlete centered philosophy for the men's volleyball program.
  • Monitor academic progress of student-athletes.
  • Evaluate and recruit potential student-athletes.
  • Develop sport skills, athleticism, character and academic skill set for current student-athletes.
  • Create and implement practice plans.
  • Create and implement game strategies.
  • Evaluate opponents.
  • Responsible for the safe and effective transportation of student-athletes to and from competition sites.
  • Responsible for the safe and effective provision of food for student-athletes during competition travel.
  • Responsible for the safe and effective management of inventory for the men's volleyball program.
  • Responsible for the safe and effective raising of funds for the men's volleyball program.
  • Adhere to all applicable Conference, Region 15, NJCAA, Hudson County Community College, local, state and federal laws, statutes, by-laws and regulations.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
What You'll Need:
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Minimum 4 years of playing, coaching or administering within a college level or professional level volleyball program.
  • General knowledge of NJCAA rules and regulations.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, planning and leadership skills.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • First Aid/ CPR Certification or willingness to attain.

Competencies and Skills
Demonstrates understanding of the community college mission. Possesses comprehensive knowledge of and ability to apply volleyball skill development theories and techniques. Has basic proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite and knowledge of software packages and technology in use in the athletics industry in relation to recruiting, retaining and communicating with student-athletes, coaches and administrators. Exhibits strong skills in:
