Role Overview

As a Facilities Mechanical Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring the reliability, availability, and efficiency of the mechanical and HVAC systems that support Intel's manufacturing, cleanroom, and research and development operations. In this role, you will troubleshoot system issues, analyze equipment performance, and develop engineering solutions that improve system reliability and efficiency. Your contributions will help maintain safe, compliant, and high-performing facilities that enable Intel's continued innovation and operational excellence.

Organization

You will join Intel's Facilities Engineering Team, which is responsible for delivering engineering solutions that support the reliability, redundancy, capacity, and long-term growth of critical facility infrastructure. This team plays an essential role in supporting Intel's advanced manufacturing and research environments by ensuring facility systems operate safely and effectively.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure the reliable operation and maintenance of mechanical and HVAC systems, including:
    • Oil-free air systems
    • Chilled water plants
    • Boiler systems
    • Environmental abatement systems
    • Compliance exhaust systems
  • Design, evaluate, and troubleshoot mechanical systems to identify root causes and implement performance improvements.
  • Develop engineering scopes of work for mechanical infrastructure projects.
  • Review system designs and engineering evaluations to ensure optimal functionality, reliability, and compliance.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and testing for new and modified system designs.
  • Support design validation, prototype development, and testing activities.
  • Collaborate with customers, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to deliver effective engineering solutions.
  • Partner with operations and maintenance teams to ensure systems meet performance, reliability, and operational requirements.
  • Develop and implement long-term mechanical system roadmaps and asset replacement strategies to support facility growth and expansion.
Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant STEM field (e.g., Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Math, Materials Science) with 0-1 years of relevant experience gained through internships, academic projects, coursework, laboratory work, or hands-on training.

OR

  • Master's degree in a relevant STEM discipline with no prior professional experience required.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills demonstrated through academic, internship, research, or project experience.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across diverse teams and stakeholders.
