Job Title: Collections Assistant
Division / Department: Curatorial - Collections OKC
Location: Oklahoma City, OK
FLSA: Non-Exempt
Schedule: Full-Time, to include evenings *as required
Reporting Manager: Senior Collections Manager
Travel: Some
Hourly Rate: $20.19-$21.64 *Depending on Experience
*Pay scale is adjusted to local market rates.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Collections Assistant supports the Collections Management, Registration, Conservation, and Curatorial teams by coordinating projects and facilitating efficient operations of the Collections Department.

DUTIES amp; RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Coordinate daily operational needs for the Collections Department in Oklahoma City
  • Prepare and lead tours as assigned, serving as an ambassador for the Collections and museum mission
  • Oversee and update collections website content, collaborating with department staff to maintain accurate and engaging digital resources
  • Support departmental projects and initiatives, assisting with the planning and execution of new and ongoing collection-related activities
  • Assist with cataloging collections materials, including research, documentation, records management, and database management to improve collection accessibility
  • Assist with incoming and unsolicited donations through donor communication, documentation, evaluation, and related research
  • Provide collection-related support for exhibitions, events, and departmental initiatives
  • Communicate professionally with museum staff, curators, donors, vendors, museum professionals, and the public
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding museum collections, records, and operations
  • Promote a positive and collaborative team environment within the Collections and Exhibits department
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned to support departmental and museum goals
  • Ensure compliance with company guidelines, deadlines, and design standards
  • Other Duties as Assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS amp; REQUIREMENTS
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in history, museum studies, library science or similar field
  • Minimum two (2) years of museum experience in administration, museums, or a related area

Skills
  • Familiarity with museum collections management practices, standards, and procedures
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat DC
  • Ability to learn and utilize collections management systems, website content management systems, and related software applications
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple assignments and meet deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including business correspondence, donor communications, and professional documentation
  • Experience conducting historical and collections-based research and analyzing archival materials
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across departments, institutions, and external stakeholders.

Abilities
  • Ability to write, speak, and interact clearly, professionally, and effectively with staff, donors, volunteers, researchers, and the public
  • Ability to present information and comfortably speak to groups of varying sizes through tours, presentations, and educational programs
  • Ability to maintain a high level of personal and professional integrity while handling sensitive, confidential, or valuable collections materials
  • Ability to analyze information, problem solve, and exercise sound judgment in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail
  • Stoop, stand, climb, and occasionally lift a minimum of 30 lbs. as required
  • Adapt and pivot to different duties, work schedules, or events as assigned, in accordance with operational needs and applicable wage and hour requirements
  • Champion the Museum of the Bible’s mission to invite all people to engage with the transformative power of the Bible
  • As required, inclusion in official or incidental photographs and videos for MOTB and/or guests.
