Legal Assistant (Foreclosure-Collections)

Siegfried Rivera, P.A. is seeking a Legal Assistant for its Collections & Foreclosure Department. The ideal candidate will have at least two (2) years of experience in HOA and condominium collections, foreclosure matters, and bankruptcy proceedings. Candidates must be detail-oriented, organized, proficient in Microsoft Word, and possess strong communication skills and a working knowledge of Florida laws governing collections, liens, foreclosures, and community associations. This is an on-site position in our Coral Gables office.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a high-volume caseload of residential and commercial foreclosure files.
  • Prepare letters, notices, claims of liens, payoff statements, and payment plans 
  • Answer phone calls and e-mails related to collection accounts 
  • Receive and process payments 
  • Inputting data into case management software; assigning incoming new cases 
  • Maintain regular communication with supervising attorneys 
  • Read and understand account ledgers and breakdown outstanding amounts 
  • Help develop cases by maintaining contact with internal/external contacts involved in the case, generating status updates 
  • Keep clients informed by communicating case progress 
  • Draft and prepare pleadings, motions, notices, affidavits, and other foreclosure-related documents.
  • Prepare files for summary judgment hearings, trials, and foreclosure sales.
  • Track foreclosure timelines and ensure timely progression of matters
  • Schedule and coordinate hearings and communicate with opposing counsel.
  • Able to adapt to changing priorities and work in a fast-paced environment with a “can do” positive attitude
  • Review and assist with bankruptcy matters affecting collection and foreclosure cases, including monitoring bankruptcy filings, preparing proofs of claim, reviewing notices, and coordinating with attorneys regarding bankruptcy-related actions.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in Condominium and HOA collection and foreclosure matters
  • Experience handling bankruptcy-related matters, including reviewing bankruptcy notices, preparing proofs of claim, and understanding the impact of bankruptcy proceedings on collection and foreclosure actions, is strongly preferred. 
  • Strong understanding of Florida collection, foreclosure, condominium, homeowners' association, and bankruptcy procedures and court rules.
  •  Must have keen attention to detail and excellent organizational skills 
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong computer skills with the ability to learn new software 
  • Experience with NetDocs is a plus 
  • Must have proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Seeking a minimum of an associate degree or certificate for legal assistant; however, may substitute experience for qualified/skilled candidates.
  • Bilingual candidate is a plus.
