Job description

Our client is currently seeking a detail-oriented, organized, and service-focused Benefits Administrator & Payroll Specialist for a temporary-to-permanent opportunity in their Calgary office. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting payroll and benefits administration while providing exceptional service to employees and internal stakeholders. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys working with confidential information, and takes pride in accuracy and delivering a positive employee experience. Responsibilities:
  • Process bi-weekly payroll accurately and on time while ensuring compliance with company policies and applicable legislation
  • Administer employee benefits programs, including enrollments, terminations, changes, and responding to employee inquiries
  • Maintain accurate payroll, benefits, and employee records while ensuring confidentiality
  • Reconcile payroll and benefits reports and assist with month-end and year-end processes
  • Prepare Records of Employment (ROEs), T4s, and other payroll-related documentation as required
  • Liaise with benefits providers and third-party vendors to resolve discrepancies and support employees
  • Assist with new hire onboarding, employee status changes, and offboarding administration
  • Respond to employee payroll and benefits inquiries in a professional and timely manner
  • Support HR and Finance with reporting, audits, and other administrative projects
  • Identify opportunities to improve payroll and benefits processes while maintaining compliance with applicable legislation

Requirements:
  • Previous experience processing payroll and administering employee benefits
  • Working knowledge of Canadian payroll legislation and employment standards
  • PCP designation or progress toward certification is considered a strong asset
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Experience with payroll and HRIS systems is preferred
  • Exceptional attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • High level of discretion and professionalism when handling confidential employee information
  • A collaborative, customer-focused approach with the ability to build positive working relationships across the organization
