Job description

Position Summary

The Mobile Controls Engineer will be responsible for both product development and application engineering, supporting Parker Canada's Engineered Systems growth in Snow & Ice and related markets. Parker's IQAN-based electronic systems offer compact electronic components for improved Snowplow Cab-Ergonomics coupled with our wide range of load sense hydraulic components. The Mobile Controls Engineer will be a qualified engineer with a passion for supporting our valuable customers, ensuring timely resolution to a variety of issues.  The focus area will be IQAN Programming & Hydraulic System Design.

The position will report directly to the Engineering Supervisor and will be based out of the Milton facility.
 

4 days in-person / 1 day remote

Salary Range: 90,000 - 100,000

Responsibilities

  • IQAN Programming & Controls: Architecture, Configure, modify, deploy IQAN Design/Run/Simulate
  • Analyze, code, simulate, test, maintain, and document IQAN programs.
  • Collaborate with the field team to optimize performance and address client concerns
  • Lead the control systems technical team
  • Optimize new system development for controllability and reliability
  • Update HMI in accordance with standards
  • Develop test plans/logic to improve troubleshooting
  • Develop logic to improve repeatability of the system hydraulic setup and tuning
  • Design of Hydraulic and Electrical schematics/systems and wiring harnesses to meet customer requirements
  • Hydraulics Integration: Set up and troubleshoot proportional/load-sensing circuits; select and verify component sizing; redline schematics.
  • High collaboration with Sales, Engineering, Supply Chain and Operations teams to resolve issues, align releases, and drive design improvements.
  • Collaboration & Training: Partner with Engineering/Product teams to create concise service guides.
  • Quality & Continuous Improvement: Support warranty evaluations, generate detailed service reports; track KPIs (response time, first-time fix); drive preventive/corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety practices as per corporate, client, and industry standards

Qualifications

Education and Experience: 

  • Bachelor's in Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience.

  • 3-5+ years in Engineering/applications for mobile equipment; IQAN (IQAN Design/Run/Simulate) and CAN/J1939.

  • Experience in software development using Parker IQAN, C, C++, or similar PLC/logic-based programming languages

  • Experience working with hydraulic control systems, instrumentation and process automation.

Skills:

  • Hands-on hydraulics (proportional control, load-sensing); adept with electro-hydraulic schematics.

  • Diagnostic proficiency with meters, CAN tools, pressure/flow instruments; strong documentation and customer communication.

  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, 5S+, and Kaizen is a plus

  • Software programming (IQAN software suite, Codesys, C++, J1939 Canbus Communication)

  • PLC programming with HMI system architecture

  • Understanding of robotics, automation, sensors, engines, and hydraulic controls preferred.

  • CAD: Autodesk Inventor an asset

  • Must have demonstrated involvement in design & project development

  • Must be familiar with databases and spreadsheet applications

  • Must be self-motivated and able to independently research pertinent information 

  • Must have exceptional organizational skills and written and verbal communications skills

  • Parker IQAN certification, preferred
