Job description

Business Communications Manager - Citi Markets Vice President (Fixed Income)
The Enterprise Services and Public Affairs (ESPA) team's mission is to enhance how our internal and external stakeholders - including colleagues - perceive and experience Citi by protecting the reputation of the firm, its businesses and the brand. The Global Communications team is an agile, high-impact group that nimbly covers a broad scope of responsibilities ranging from executive communications to corporate culture and reputation.
Our team thrives in a fast-moving, intellectually curious and solution-oriented environment. If you bring a client-oriented mindset, excellent judgment, a passion to learn and a great sense of humor, you'll fit right in.
About the Role
We're looking for an experienced and driven Vice President to join our Citi Markets Communications team. The individual in this role will be responsible for developing and executing holistic, proactive and strategic communications plans for Citi's Markets Fixed Income business. This role will ensure there is consistent, clear and concise messaging including executive communications, social media profile building and engagement, media interviews, and internal messaging to colleagues.
The ideal candidate will bring experience in capital markets or investment banking communications and thrive in a fast-paced environment that supports one of the world's leading global Markets franchise.
As a core pillar of Citi's business, the Markets division provides a comprehensive and leading suite of services to institutional investors, corporations, financial institutions and other market participants. Our Markets business encompasses Equities and Fixed Income (Rates, Commodities, FX and Spread Products) all of which are an integral part of the firm's ability to provide end-to-end solutions for the world's leading institutions.
This role sits at the intersection of corporate reputation, executive positioning, and strategic communications, providing critical support to the Markets leadership team.
Responsibilities
  • Support in the development and execution of comprehensive, integrated communication strategies in direct support of our Markets business, aligned to Citi's broader growth objectives.
  • Translate complex themes into clear, compelling narratives for media, clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Support in driving proactive and reactive media relations for Markes, cultivating relationships with financial journalists and investment-focused media, and positioning business leaders as authoritative voices in the market.
  • Support in the setting of social media content strategies and execution for key business leaders, monitor engagement trends and collaborate with internal teams to amplify thought leadership across digital channels.
  • Support internal communications efforts to keep colleagues informed and engaged on Markets priorities.
  • Draft a wide range of high-quality communications materials, including media pitches, press releases, executive talking points, video scripts, digital content, and client-facing narratives.
  • Partner with senior leaders and subject matter experts to ensure communication efforts are strategically aligned with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
  • Proactively identify communications opportunities and reputational risks, developing innovative solutions to enhance the visibility and credibility of our client solutions.
  • Manage issues and crisis communications that may impact the reputation of the Markets business, exercising sound judgment and discretion.
  • Leverage qualitative and quantitative insights to measure the effectiveness of communication strategies and continuously refine approaches.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Finance, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field; advanced degree a plus.
  • 7+ years of relevant experience in corporate communications, financial communications, or public relations, with exposure to investment management or capital markets.
  • The ability to translate sophisticated content into accessible, audience-appropriate messaging.
  • Proven track record of developing and executing successful, multi-channel communication strategies in support of senior financial leaders.
  • Demonstrated experience managing media relationships with financial press and handling complex or sensitive inquiries with professionalism and discretion.
  • Experience developing thought leadership programs and executive communications for C-suite professionals.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex financial concepts clearly and persuasively for diverse audiences.
  • Strong organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple high-priority workstreams and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced, matrixed environment.
  • Proactive, creative, detail-oriented, and highly organized, with a strong work ethic, sound editorial judgment, and a positive, collaborative attitude.
