As a Controls Technician in our state of the art Home Care product production plant, you will be responsible for the effective operation of plant production and utility equipment; ensuring the continued operation of our base liquid making equipment and devices. You will work among a team of technical peers as a cooperative think tank of mechanical acumen in a Fortune 500 production setting. The primary goals include updating and maintaining the plant PLC and SCADA System, seeking and implementing new technology, and attaining high equipment reliability and uptime. You are an integral piece of safety compliance, data collection, innovation, problem solving, and continuous improvement.
You will have considerable interaction with others in the same production unit as well as other production and support functions, creating a bridge between humans and machines. Responsibilities include:
  • Controls & Automation Systems: Design, program, troubleshoot, and maintain plant control systems (PLCs, SCADA, servo systems), including hardware/software updates and maintaining logic for PSM-covered processes.
  • SCADA & Data Infrastructure: Manage SCADA screens, controls networks, and data architectures; leverage raw data and Excel macros to provide real-time, actionable insights for plant operations.
  • Project & Engineering Support: Partner with Engineering, Maintenance, and CI teams to design, install, and commission capital projects (CEB), line improvements, and new technologies.
  • Advanced Troubleshooting: Provide high-level controls support for unplanned breakdowns, collaborate with technicians on root-cause analysis, and document logic changes or deficiencies in SAP EAM.
  • Compliance, Safety, & Quality: Adhere to all EOHS, Quality, GMP, and Micro standards, ensuring precise regulatory documentation and completion of required PSM training.
  • Continuous Improvement & OEE: Participate in structured CI initiatives (autonomous maintenance, problem-solving) and monitor critical processes to maximize OEE, uptime, and asset utilization.
  • Training & Knowledge Sharing: Actively upskill Maintenance Technicians and operators on controls systems to drive technical development and operator empowerment.
  • Production & Materials Management: Configure equipment for new SKUs, formulas, and packaging changes, and efficiently utilize the storeroom parts inventory system.
  • Business & Customer Focus: Optimize plant resources responsibly to meet the needs of internal teams (Quality, Planning, Finance) and major external retail customers.

Required Qualifications:
  • A high school diploma or GED
  • Experience with setup, configuration, and operation of production plant controls equipment
  • Expert level proficiency in the use of PLC, SCADA, and HMI programming and troubleshooting

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Vocational school certificate or technical institute degree with emphasis in electronics is preferred
  • 7+ years manufacturing or similar experience is preferred, with an emphasis in mechanics or electronics.
  • Competent in the selection setup, programming and configuration of servo systems is preferred

Compensation and Benefits
Salary Range $72,000.00 - $75,000.00 USD
Pay is determined based on experience, qualifications, and location. Salaried employees may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses, profit-sharing, and long-term incentives for Executive-level roles.
Benefits: Salaried employees enjoy a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, basic life insurance, paid parental leave, disability coverage, and participation in the 401(k) retirement plan with company matching contributions subject to eligibility requirements. Additional benefits include a minimum of 15 vacation/PTO days (hourly employees receive a minimum of 120 hours) and 13 paid holidays (vacation days are prorated based on the employee's hire date within the calendar year). Paid sick leave is adjusted based on role and location in accordance with local laws. Detailed information regarding paid sick leave entitlements will be provided to employees upon hiring and may be subject to adjustments based on changes in legislation or company policies.
