Job description

Abbott Metal Werks is a premier manufacturer and innovator in the fastener industry, currently seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Cold Header Operator to join our dedicated team in Wheeling, Illinois. In this role, you will be responsible for set-up, operation and troubleshooting the cold heading processes to produce high-quality fastener products. Our 100,000 sq. ft. facility services primarily the North American Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) market, but we also have customers throughout the USA and globally. As an ISO certified and ITAR registered company, we take great pride in providing our customers with high-quality products since 1948.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Set up, operate, troubleshoot and resolve minor machine issues to minimize downtime.
  • Conduct regular inspections and quality checks of production output to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Maintain accurate records of production metrics and machine performance.
  • Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized workspace.
  • Collaborate with team members to meet production goals and deadlines.
  • Assist in training new operators on machinery and procedures.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in cold heading or a similar manufacturing role (REQUIRED)
  • Experience in cold forming nut or part formers (not required but a bonus)
  • Jern Yao experience (SUPER Bonus!)
  • Understanding of cold heading technology and processes.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Familiarity with quality management principles and ISO standards.
  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time, lift 50lbs and work in various temperatures and conditions
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
