Sales & Proposal Engineer- Coke & Iron

Summary

Responsible for marketing and selling all of the companyโ€™s coke & iron equipment products, processes and technologies in the USMCA market, provide aftermarket support in the form of service and revamp proposals, and to represent the companyโ€™s interests in general.

What you'll do

  • In conjunction with the General Manager, Centers of competence, Engineering Department and Automation Department determines which references will be used to develop the scope of supply and estimate.
  • Management of proposal writing and editing
  • Manages sales calls and attends sales functions, as required
  • Management of layout and engineering work for proposal preparation
  • Project coordination with team members in the proposal stage
  • Coordination and alignment of proposals with SMS servicing organization
  • Adherence to SMS group sales process procedures, software tools and documentation requirements.
  • Coordination of engineering work for proposal preparation.
  • Work with the project estimator and supply chain department to prepare and edit cost estimates for proposed project.
  • Technical presentation of proposals to prospective customers
  • Technical presentation of SMS group technology to prospective customers
  • Contacts and coordination with main mechanical vendors for proposal purposes
  • Inter-departmental or inter-company contacts concerning proposals
  • Developing and executing marketing strategy for USMCA region customers, including customer communications and visits
  • Identifying potential projects (new equipment and aftermarket), selecting appropriate technologies, and developing technical and commercial specifications
  • Customer support / liaison of the companyโ€™s domestic references
  • Approximately 15-20% travel required for customer and supplier visits or internal company meetings

What you'll need

  • BS in Materials Science and Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering required
  • Computer aided design (CAD) competence
  • Minimum 5 years experience working with industrial steelmaking technology in melting processes. Steelmaking process engineering experience is required
  • Process design experience and competence is a plus
  • Candidates must be self-motivated and display creativity, strong problem-solving skills, and work well in a diverse, international team environment
  • Excellent computer skills, with a strong emphasis on SharePoint, Word, Excel and PowerPoint. SAP experience is preferred.
