Coin Sales information

What is coin sales?

Coin sales refer to the process of buying and selling coins, which can include collectible coins, bullion coins, and numismatic items. This field often involves dealers, collectors, and investors trading coins for their historical, artistic, or intrinsic metal value. Coin sales can take place through coin shops, auctions, online marketplaces, or coin shows. Professionals in coin sales need to have knowledge of coin grading, authentication, market trends, and proper valuation techniques.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in coin sales, and why are they important?

To thrive in Coin Sales, you need a solid understanding of numismatics, sales techniques, and market valuation, often supported by industry experience or relevant certifications. Familiarity with inventory management systems, CRM software, and online auction platforms is typically required. Excellent interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and persuasive communication help build trust with clients and close sales effectively. These skills ensure accurate appraisals, customer satisfaction, and ongoing business growth in a competitive collectible market.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals in coin sales, and how can they be addressed?

Professionals in coin sales often encounter challenges such as building trust with clients, staying current with market trends, and accurately authenticating rare coins. Establishing credibility through clear communication and transparent practices is essential for long-term client relationships. Continuous education about numismatics and the latest market data helps sales professionals provide informed recommendations. Collaborating with reputable grading services and staying involved in industry networks can also help address authenticity and valuation concerns.

Job description

About Pure
Pure is building the future of rare coin and precious metal trading. We believe collectors and investors deserve financial infrastructure that matches the standards of modern markets. That is why we are creating a new kind of order book marketplace that brings transparency, efficiency, and trust to an industry still rooted in legacy systems.

Started in 2023, Pure is one of the fastest growing marketplaces for tangible assets. We currently process over $45 million in transactions each month and are expanding rapidly. Our mission is to modernize an old industry by combining the reliability of traditional trading systems with the innovation of cutting-edge technology.

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Lead Pure’s go-to-market efforts as the first sales hire, responsible for acquiring new merchants (dealers, institutions, collectors) to join the marketplace.

  • Build and own the merchant acquisition strategy: prospecting, outreach, pipeline development, and deal closing.

  • Develop relationships with key stakeholders in the precious metals and rare coin ecosystem, understanding their business needs and positioning Pure as the trusted partner.

  • Collaborate with product, operations, and leadership to refine merchant onboarding, feedback loops, and growth strategies.

  • Create repeatable sales processes, playbooks, and metrics that will form the foundation of Pure’s future commercial team.

  • Represent Pure at industry events, trade shows, and in direct conversations with high-value merchants.

  • Report directly to the founders on sales performance, pipeline health, and strategic opportunities.

Who You Are:

  • 5+ years of experience in sales, business development, or go-to-market roles, ideally in financial services, fintech, marketplaces, or related industries.

  • Proven track record of sourcing, negotiating, and closing high-value B2B partnerships or merchant accounts.

  • Comfortable as a player-coach who is willing to do the work of prospecting and closing, while also building the systems for scale.

  • Entrepreneurial and resourceful: able to operate in a fast-paced, unstructured environment.

  • Excellent communicator and relationship builder: able to gain trust with merchants, understand their needs, and deliver solutions.

  • Data-driven and metrics-oriented: you measure progress, optimize efforts, and refine processes.

  • Passion for building from the ground up and being part of an early-stage team.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with dealers, collectors, or financial institutions.

  • Previous success at a marketplace, trading platform, or fintech company.

  • Understanding of commodities, collectibles, or high-value asset markets.

  • Experience building and scaling sales teams.

What We Offer:

Health coverage & insurance: Medical, dental
Retirement: 401(k) with employer match
Extras & perks: Daily lunches, Wellness stipend

Location:

  • Los Angeles, CA - In-Person; 50-75% travel

We move fast. We prioritize accuracy, security, and reliability. Ownership matters. You will have autonomy and be expected to lead and follow through. If you are excited and can do core things well, even if you do not match every box, apply.
