About the Role

The Universal Banker I (UB I) serves in a multiโ€‘purpose role, fulfilling the responsibilities of both a Teller and an Account Specialist. This position is responsible for delivering quality customer service and positive banking experiences to current and prospective customers. Universal Banker I are expected to demonstrate a working knowledge of the bankโ€™s products and services, uphold SSB&Tโ€™s Core Values, and maintain a positive attitude with strong communication skills and work ethic.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Champion Enterprise Values: Lead with and model SSB&Tโ€™s core values, embedding them into data strategy, governance, and team culture.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to meet customer financial needs
  • Maintain knowledge of bank product, services, policies and regulatory requirements
  • Ensure accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance in all transaction
  • Accept and process deposits, withdrawals, loan payments, and savings bonds
  • Cash checks and process cashierโ€™s checks, gift cards, and foreign currency orders
  • Open, maintain, revise, and close customer accounts, completing all required documentation accurately
  • Verify new account information and updates within the core processing system
  • Process stop payments, wire transfers, online transfers, and outgoing collections
  • Balance and maintain teller cash drawer, vault, ATM, and teller capture system
  • Record and process night drop, mail deposits, and commercial change orders
  • Perform coin processing using coin counter
  • Facilitate customer access to safe deposit boxes and perform related duties
  • Process check orders and prepare accountโ€‘related correspondence and reports
  • Assist customers with account inquiries, electronic banking issues, address changes, and service requests
  • Issue debit cards, conduct PIN changes, and adjust debit card limits
  • Prepare documentation related to fraudulent activity as required
  • Process dormant account releases and maintain proper documentation
  • Perform document scanning and record retention tasks
  • Review weekly nonโ€‘customer lists for OFAC compliance
  • Reconcile transactions and prepare operational reports as required
  • The scope of this role may be reviewed and adjusted periodically to align with organizational goals at the employerโ€™s discretion.

Employment Commitments & Physical Requirements

  • Monday- Friday 8am-5pm
  • Focus-intensive position requiring extended periods of sitting and digital navigation.
  • Occasional walking, standing, and use of office equipment.

  • Travel may be necessary depending on business needs
