Description
SUMMARY The person in this position will provide exceptional customer service and hospitality in The Coffee Shop and retail location. Responsibilities include preparing and serving high-quality espresso beverages, assisting customers with purchases, handling payments, and maintaining a clean, welcoming space. This individual will also manage back-of-house tasks such as inventory checks, restocking merchandise, and ensuring equipment is clean and operational.
This role requires someone who is reliable, self-motivated, and comfortable working independently. The individual is expected to maintain a professional, friendly demeanor and uphold high standards of cleanliness, safety, and customer care. Regular attendance and adherence to the published schedule are essential for success in this position.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Customer Service: Greet customers warmly, take orders accurately, and provide prompt, friendly service.
  2. Beverage Preparation: Prepare and serve high-quality coffee, espresso drinks, and other beverages according to established recipes and standards.
  3. Retail Sales: Assist customers with retail purchases, restock merchandise, and maintain organized displays.
  4. Point of Sale Operations: Handle cash, credit, and digital transactions efficiently and accurately.
  5. Cleanliness & Safety: Maintain a clean and sanitary workspace, including countertops, equipment, and preparation areas, following food safety regulations.
  6. Inventory Management: Monitor stock levels, restock supplies, and communicate inventory needs to management. May be required to visit local stores to purchase supplies as needed.
  7. Opening/Closing Procedures: Perform daily opening and closing tasks, including setup, cleaning, and securing the store.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position will have some supervisory responsibilities in the areas of support and assisting the leadership staff by overseeing the assigned retail employees but no direct reports.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience using an espresso machine and prior barista experience preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Current King County Food Handlers Card
Current CPR/First Aid Certification or ability to obtain
Valid Driver's License to be authorized to drive camp vehicles. *Not Required.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to speak effectively with coworkers, supervisors and guests.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

The employee in this position is required to live on the camp premises in staff housing in order to provide round-the-clock supervision of campers and volunteers and fulfill the program requirements of this position.

The employee in this position will be available to be cross trained into other areas of the ministry as needs arise.
