Careers in the coffee industry include farming and production, shipping, grading and testing, marketing and sales, and roasting jobs, as well as retail jobs at cafes or coffee shops. The duties required for each of these fields vary widely, and each job has specialized responsibilities and tasks related to the specific segment of the industry. Coffee farmers, for example, plant seeds, monitor coffee plant tree growth, fertilizer and water the trees, and harvest and process the beans.
