Job Summary:

The primary responsibility of this position is to provide exceptional customer service while operating the point-of-sale (POS) system and assisting with daily coffee kiosk operations. This position is responsible for accurately processing transactions, assisting customers, maintaining cleanliness standards, and supporting beverage and food service operations within the coffee kiosk.


Essential Functions:

Specific duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

Customer Service & Beverage Preparation:

  • Provide exceptional customer service by performing the Customer Service Fundamentals (i.e. Fun 5: Smile, Make Eye Contact, Greet the Customer, Suggestive Sell, and Thank the Customer) in all customer interactions.
  • Accurately process customer purchases using the point-of-sale (POS) system.
  • Handle cash, credit card, and other payment transactions accurately and responsibly.
  • Assist customers with questions regarding menu items, beverages, and food offerings.
  • Maintain a friendly, professional, and customer-focused atmosphere.
  • Handle customer concerns and questions in a professional and business-like manner.

Beverage & Food Service Support:

  • Assist with preparing and serving coffee, teas, Matcha, and other specialty beverages as needed.
  • Assist with preparing and packaging light food items in accordance with company procedures and quality standards.
  • Restock cups, lids, utensils, condiments, and supplies throughout shifts.
  • Assist with maintaining product freshness and presentation standards.

Cleaning, Sanitation & Operations:

  • Maintain a neat, clean, organized, and sanitized work environment at all times.
  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health department standards.
  • Assist with cleaning counters, equipment, seating areas, and surrounding kiosk areas.
  • Assist with opening and closing procedures as assigned.
  • Operate equipment safely and responsibly while maintaining cleanliness and organization standards.

Supervisory Responsibility: This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.


Work Environment: This job operates in a busy retail and food service environment. Responsibilities are performed within the coffee kiosk and surrounding retail areas with exposure to hot surfaces, beverage preparation equipment, refrigeration, and varying temperatures. The position regularly involves customer interaction and high-volume service periods.


Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a part-time position. Days and hours of work are scheduled Sunday through Saturday during coffee kiosk operating hours, generally between 6:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Weekend and holiday work may be required as business needs demand. Must attend all mandatory meetings and participate in required trainings.


Travel: No travel is expected for this position.

Requirements:

Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are essential to the successful performance of this role within a high-volume, fast-paced retail café. This position requires a high level of physical activity while supporting daily coffee kiosk operations.

  • Mobility & Stamina: Ability to stand and walk for the duration of a shift (8+ hours) and navigate a condensed workspace involving frequent bending, reaching, and twisting.
  • Manual Dexterity: Perform repetitive tasks including beverage preparation and operation of POS systems and coffee equipment.
  • Lifting & Inventory: Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 25–40 pounds, including coffee supplies, milk containers, and operational inventory.
  • Environmental Exposure: Frequent exposure to heat from brewing equipment and ovens, as well as cold from refrigerators and freezers. Ability to work safely on potentially wet or slippery surfaces.
  • Communication & Sensory: Regularly required to communicate effectively with customers and coworkers while maintaining quality customer service.
  • Chemical Safety: Safe handling of specialized cleaning agents and sanitizers in accordance with manufacturer instructions.


Required Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous customer service, cashier, retail, food service, or hospitality experience preferred.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Experience operating POS systems and handling cash transactions preferred.
  • Ability to obtain food safety certification if required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous coffee shop, café, or specialty beverage experience.
