The Maintenance Technician Performs equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs in green blending, roasting, packaging, distribution warehouse, and small-scale projects.
Schedule: This position works 3rd Shift, Monday-Friday from 10:00PM-6:30AM.
Pay: $28-35/hour

Responsibilities:

  • Support manufacturing operations by understanding the functionality and operation of all machinery.
  • Monitor equipment and processes to ensure safety, efficiency, and product quality.
  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on all roasting and packaging equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and basic electrical issues on production equipment.
  • Maintain equipment in safe, efficient operating condition, targeting 90% or higher machine uptime.
  • Complete scheduled maintenance tasks and assigned work orders.
  • Assist with continuous improvement initiatives and special projects.
  • Aid the Engineering Technician in new equipment installations and modifications.
  • Respond to unplanned equipment downtime to minimize production disruptions.
  • Communicate effectively with the Engineering Supervisor, Operations leadership, and Production team.
  • Adhere to and uphold Peet's Coffee policies and procedures fairly and consistently.
  • Participate in safety committee meetings and support plant safety initiatives.
  • Comply with all Food Safety programs, including but not limited to GMPs, SSOPs, and the Adverse Health Policy.
  • Operate forklifts, boom lifts, and scissor lifts safely and in accordance with training.
  • Read and interpret basic electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics.
  • Follow lockout/tagout procedures and demonstrate working knowledge of safety protocols.
  • Maintains sanitation standards and participates in routine equipment cleaning.
  • Must be flexible and available for shift changes, overtime, and weekend coverage.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • 1+ years of related experience in the technician field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Obtains and maintains a Minnesota Electrical Unlicensed Individual (or greater) certification.
  • Basic electrical circuits knowledge.
  • Welding and fabricating experience.
  • Experience troubleshooting and repairing mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Comfortable operating and understanding production equipment.
  • Able to navigate SCADA systems, such as Scolari for roasting and associated coffee packaging systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to work independently.
  • Self-motivated and reliable with minimal supervision.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Clear, confident communicator with cross-functional teams.

Preferred:

  • Trade school diploma in electronic and mechanical disciplines in packaging equipment or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with Vertical Form Fill and Seal (VFF), Digital Scales, Variable Frequency Drive (VFD), Steppers, and Servomotors.
  • Troubleshooting and repairing basic electrical systems.
  • Experience with CMMS software (e.g., computerized maintenance management systems).

Physical Requirements and Environmental Exposures:

  • Must be able to lift up to 80 pounds.
  • Must be able to work "on your feet."
  • Must be able to endure constant leaning and bending during shift.
  • Must be able to handle/move up to 750 pound bins on casters.
  • Airborne particles, Fumes, High places, Moving parts, Muscular strain, Noise, Odors, High temperatures.

The target hourly range for this position is $28-$35 per hour. The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include, as applicable, the applicant's qualifications for the position; years of relevant experience; specific and unique skills; level of education attained; certifications or other professional licenses held; other legitimate, non-discriminatory business factors specific to the position; and the geographic location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will perform the job. Individuals employed in this position may also be eligible to earn bonuses.
