Overview

The Coffee Shop Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Bar Premio cafe, ensuring an exceptional guest experience and maintaining consistently high standards for coffee, service, food presentation, cleanliness, and hospitality. This position leads the cafe team during assigned shifts, supports training and development, and ensures the cafe operates efficiently and in accordance with Bar Premio standards.

Responsibilities

Essential Responsibilities

Daily Cafe Operations

  • Oversee daily cafe operations and ensure smooth, efficient service.
  • Lead the cafe team during assigned shifts and provide direction, support, and accountability.
  • Ensure all coffee beverages are prepared consistently according to Bar Premio recipes and quality standards.
  • Ensure pastries, grab-and-go items, and cafe food offerings are properly displayed, stocked, and presented.
  • Monitor guest flow and ensure timely, attentive service.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming cafe environment throughout the shift.
  • Ensure opening, closing, and shift-change procedures are completed accurately.
  • Communicate operational needs, maintenance concerns, and guest feedback to management.

Guest Experience

  • Deliver warm, knowledgeable, and personalized hospitality to every guest.
  • Build relationships with regular guests and create a welcoming cafe environment.
  • Address guest questions, concerns, and service recovery situations professionally.
  • Maintain Bar Premio's service standards and uphold the overall guest experience.

Team Leadership & Training

  • Train and coach cafe employees on coffee preparation, service standards, menu knowledge, sanitation, and operating procedures.
  • Provide ongoing feedback and support to team members.
  • Assist management with onboarding and developing new cafe employees.
  • Monitor employee performance, attendance, punctuality, and adherence to company standards.
  • Foster a positive, professional, and team-oriented work environment.
  • Lead by example in appearance, attitude, hospitality, and work ethic.

Inventory & Cafe Standards

  • Monitor inventory levels for coffee, milk, syrups, pastries, paper goods, and other cafe supplies.
  • Communicate inventory needs and assist with ordering and receiving as directed by management.
  • Minimize waste and ensure proper product rotation and storage.
  • Maintain proper food safety, sanitation, and cleanliness standards.
  • Ensure all cafe equipment is properly cleaned, maintained, and used according to operating procedures.
  • Report equipment issues and maintenance needs promptly.

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Assist with daily opening and closing checklists.
  • Monitor timekeeping and ensure employees accurately record their hours.
  • Complete required shift reports, inventory counts, and operational documentation.
  • Assist management with scheduling and staffing needs when requested.
  • Maintain clear communication with restaurant management and other departments.
Qualifications
  • 2+ years of hospitality, cafe, coffee shop, or food and beverage experience preferred.
  • Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of coffee preparation and cafe operations.
  • Excellent guest service and communication skills.
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to multitask while maintaining service and quality standards.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift or move cafe supplies as required.
  • Availability to work mornings, weekends, holidays, and varying shifts as business needs require.

Preferred Skills

  • Barista experience with espresso-based beverages.
  • Experience with specialty coffee and espresso equipment.
  • Experience training and developing baristas.
  • Familiarity with POS systems and cash handling.
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards.
