KP783 - ROTA Nanny - Chelsea, NYC

Full-time

Posted 20 days ago

Job description

A warm, loving 2-dad family in Chelsea, NYC, is seeking a ROTA nanny to help care for their 1.5-year-old and 2-year-old. Trials will start in May, with a view to the role starting in a full-time capacity in mid-July (once the family return from their summer vacation). The schedule will be 1 week on (live-in)/ 1 week off (live-out). Both children are sleeping through the night. The family is seeking a long-term commitment to provide their children with steady, consistent care — and are just as committed to supporting the nanny’s own stability, wellbeing, and long-term fulfillment within the position. While on duty, the nanny will have her own room and bathroom in a separate quarter of the family’s large apartment - this space has been mindfully designed from scratch for the nanny team and includes a microwave, fridge, coffee maker and separate entrance.

This opportunity is not open to fly-in/fly-out candidates. Only local candidates are eligible to apply. Candidates will work in tandem with the family’s other nanny and house manager, both of whom BAHS placed a little over a year ago.

  • The nanny’s primary responsibility will be caring for the 2-year-old girl and staying on top of her daily activity schedule (eg preschool, classes, playdates), milestone development,  food prep (she has a voracious appetite and no allergies), and general wellbeing.
  • The 1.5-year-old boy  has kidney disease and is fed through a G-tube. Despite this, he is a happy, highly social child. A nurse oversees his daytime medical care (and is present 11 hours per day); however, candidates must be comfortable stepping in to assist with his care if needed overnight (both children sleep solid 12 hours per night), as well as periodically throughout the day and when the family travel.
  • Candidates will be taught everything they need to know regarding his condition and care and will be expected to support his development in conjunction with his full-time dedicated nurse.
  • There is a friendly family dog (a Weimaraner), who has a dog walker and is therefore not the candidate’s responsibility, but candidates should be pet friendly and prepared to let them outside etc.
  • The family do travel both domestically and internationally, so candidates should be willing to accompany them- they spend June/July in the Hamptons but would try to keep to the same schedule as far as possible. They also go to Canada 2-3 times per year, as well as Europe and elsewhere, but will amend the schedule to ensure that candidates remain rested and energized at all times.

  • Candidates should have a solid understanding  of child development/ developmental milestones, with a passion for and experience helping children reach these, while meeting them where they are at (i.e. the 1.5-year-old may not reach milestones quite as early as his older sibling).
  • Must have at least 5 years' verifiable experience working in a similar role with multiples
  • Be supremely organized, proactive, curious and comfortable working with medically complicated children (a willingness to learn is more important than previous experience)
  • Must be low ego, highly emotionally intelligent, adaptable and a consummate team player - candidates will work as part of a cohesive team in a fully staffed home, and must be willing to maintain a harmonious and positive work environment

  • US passport, Green Card or EAC
  • COVID vaccinated (most recent vaccination not required), and up to date on Flu/RSV/Tdap and MMR vaccinations
  • Passport ready and willing to travel both domestically and internationally
  • Ideally available to trial in May/June and start mid-July

  • $130-$135k+ and all industry standard benefits
  • HRA ($6000/ year)
  • Discretionary bonus
