Job description

Company Description Plant the Future is a Miami-based biophilic design studio that creates products, art, and immersive experiences to reconnect people with nature. Guided by the principle of Biophilia, the studio designs environments that promote well-being, calm, and a deeper connection to the natural world. Its flagship location in Miami’s Little River neighborhood serves as a gallery, showroom, atelier, café, and event space showcasing biophilic design. In addition to the flagship space, Plant the Future collaborates with developers, architects, interior designers, and private clients to craft bespoke biophilic environments for residential, hospitality, commercial, and public projects.

Role Description This is a part-time, on-site Specialty Coffee Barista role based at Plant the Future’s flagship location in Miami, FL. The Barista prepares and serves specialty coffee and other specialty beverages, ensuring high-quality taste, presentation, and consistency. Day-to-day responsibilities include operating café equipment, maintaining a clean and organized workspace, managing inventory of coffee and related supplies, and following food safety and sanitation standards. The role also involves greeting visitors, answering questions about the café offerings, and contributing to a calm, nature-inspired atmosphere that aligns with the studio’s biophilic philosophy. The Specialty Coffee Barista collaborates with the café and studio team to support events and ensure a welcoming guest experience.

Qualifications

  • Specialty coffee skills, including espresso extraction, milk steaming, and basic latte art; familiarity with different brewing methods (e.g., pour-over, French press, cold brew).
  • Customer service and hospitality skills, including collect payments, clear communication, active listening, and a friendly, professional demeanor in a busy, guest-facing environment.
  • Operations and hygiene skills, including point-of-sale use, cash handling, inventory awareness, and adherence to food safety and sanitation standards.
  • Interest in design, art, and nature, with the ability to contribute to a tranquil, aesthetically mindful café experience aligned with biophilic principles.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, lift moderate weights, and work flexible hours, including weekends and events as needed.
  • Previous barista or café experience preferred; training in specialty coffee or café operations is an advantage.
  • Reliable time management, teamwork skills, and a commitment to creating an inclusive, respectful environment for colleagues and guests.
