Job description

Job Title: Barista 

Department/Ministry: Steeple Coffee 

Reports to: Steeple Coffee Lead 

Days Worked: Sunday through Thursday (may vary)/Monday through Friday - Must be able to work weekends

Required Hours: (Part-Time), Hourly, Non-Exempt 

Salary: $13-15/hr + tips

Benefit Eligible: No 

Job Summary:  

Skilled in preparing and serving high-quality coffee beverages, efficiently handling food and beverage orders, and providing support with food preparation and service to ensure a positive customer experience. 

Duties/Responsibilities: 

  • Create and serve coffee drinks (espresso, cappuccino, lattes, etc.) with consistency. 

  • Engage with customers, offering recommendations and creating a positive service experience. 

  • Keep the workstation clean and organized. 

  • Maintain knowledge of coffee brewing methods, beans, and equipment. 

  • Assist with restocking supplies and maintaining inventory for the coffee bar. 

  • Help with disposing of trash and keeping the coffee bar organized. 

  • Assist with general cleaning tasks at the end of shifts to prepare Steeple Coffee for the next day. 

Required Skills/Abilities:  

  • Friendly and hospitable.  

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a customer-first attitude. 

  • Excellent organizational skills.  

  • Basic math skills for handling transactions and managing inventory. 

  • Ability to manage several tasks simultaneously.  

  • Familiarity with kitchen sanitation and safety regulations. 

Education and Experience: 

  • At least two years of related experience preferred  

Physical Requirements:  

  • Prolonged periods of standing 

  • Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds at times Â
