Job Summary
Our client is seeking an Inpatient Coding Specialist responsible for maintaining patient confidentiality, assigning accurate diagnosis and procedure codes, and ensuring compliance with coding guidelines. The role involves submitting physician queries, correcting coding issues, and verifying crucial information such as admission and discharge details.
Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with all privacy regulations.
  • Review inpatient medical records and assign accurate diagnosis and procedure codes following coding guidelines.
  • Submit physician queries to clarify documentation and ensure accurate coding.
  • Review coding work queues, correct coding issues, and assist with audit and denial corrections.
  • Verify admission, discharge, transfer (ADT), physician, procedure, and POA information for accuracy.
  • Review and validate appropriate DRG assignments.
  • Meet established coding quality and productivity standards and submit daily productivity reports.
  • Participate in ongoing education to maintain coding certification.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • 3 years of inpatient facility-based coding experience.
  • Specialization in Trauma is preferred.

Skills
  • Proficiency in medical coding and classification systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Good communication and problem-solving skills.
