Job description

Are you a software engineer who thinks deeply about what it means to ship high quality code with confidence: not just your own code, but code written by AI, across the whole company? Amazon Software Builder Experience (ASBX) is hiring for a unique role: you'll be joining the team that owns Amazon's core testing platforms, and have a voice in setting the direction for AI-native software development at scale. You'll have a direct impact: helping create the future of human-guided, self-validating agentic coding for tens of thousands of world-class software engineers at Amazon. You will partner with your manager and teammates as a hands-on engineer in a dedicated team.
Key job responsibilities
You will play a key role on a team as it designs, builds, ships, and operates testing platforms and AI-driven testing capabilities, by:
- Quickly and reliably delivering high-quality technical solutions that delight our customers;
- Building and operating distributed systems at global scale - serverless test orchestration, on-demand execution across every AWS region, and load testing platforms processing millions of transactions per day;
- Demonstrating good taste in developer experience and tooling design through the SDLC;
- Partnering with your manager and engineering leads to influence technical architecture and product roadmaps;
- Meeting with customers to learn and help them achieve their goals;
- Setting a high bar of technical and operational excellence, and empowering your colleagues to continuously meet and raise the bar.
A day in the life
Your customers are the tens of thousands of software engineers across Amazon, who are building AWS, Amazon.com, Alexa, and more. You'll be a hands-on engineer, building and operating systems at extraordinary scale: test platforms that are in the critical path of every deployment at Amazon, and AI capabilities already in daily use by tens of thousands of builders. You will partner with your manager and teammates to sustainably deliver high-quality customer outcomes.
About the team
ASBX Testing builds and operates Amazon's foundational testing infrastructure for the AI Development Life Cycle. Our platforms execute millions of tests per day across every AWS region: on-demand test execution, serverless orchestration, and global-scale load testing. Our AI systems make those platforms smarter: generating tests, diagnosing failures, and measuring whether a change carries enough evidence to ship. Our north star is a future where every team at Amazon has an AI-powered testing partner that helps builders ship high-quality software fast. We're early enough that you'll shape what this becomes, and operating at enough scale that your work has impact from day one.
As a SDE II engineer, you are a force multiplier to your teammates as much as you are a developer. This role will be a great fit if you have both passion and experience balancing coding, mentoring, and communicating.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- 1+ years of software development engineer or related occupational experience
- 1+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded or distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using: C#, C++, Java, or Perl experience
- 1+ years of Object Oriented Design experience
- Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
