Job description

Signature Aviation is the global leader in private aviation ground services, operating a complex, highly distributed technology environment supporting critical operations across a global network of FBO locations. As the organization continues to modernize and scale its technology platforms, the Director, IT Infrastructure & Operations (I&O) will play a critical leadership role in driving the strategy, stability, modernization, and operational excellence of the company's global infrastructure ecosystem.
This role is responsible for the leadership, architecture, delivery, and continuous improvement of enterprise infrastructure services across cloud, network, compute, storage, virtualization, edge, platform, and operational technologies. The Director will lead a global infrastructure organization supporting a 24/7 operational environment where resiliency, scalability, security, and speed of execution are essential.
The ideal candidate is a technically credible infrastructure leader who combines strategic vision with operational discipline and hands-on leadership. This individual will drive modernization initiatives, mature operational capabilities, strengthen platform reliability, and enable scalable technology solutions that support both enterprise growth and developer agility. The Director will partner closely with Engineering, Cybersecurity, Operations, and executive leadership to position infrastructure as a strategic business enabler and competitive advantage.
Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Define and execute the enterprise infrastructure strategy and multi-year technology roadmap across cloud, data center, network, compute, storage, virtualization, edge, and platform services.
  • Lead the modernization and continuous improvement of infrastructure capabilities, including cloud transformation, SD-WAN, automation, observability, container platforms, hyper-converged infrastructure, and edge computing technologies.
  • Provide strategic and operational leadership for a global 24/7 infrastructure environment supporting business-critical and customer-facing systems across geographically distributed locations.
  • Establish and enforce engineering, operational, architectural, and service delivery standards to ensure scalability, resiliency, performance, and security across the infrastructure portfolio.
  • Own enterprise infrastructure availability, operational performance, incident response, problem management, root cause analysis, disaster recovery, and business continuity planning.
  • Define, monitor, and report on KPIs, SLAs, SLOs, and operational health metrics, driving accountability and continuous service improvement across the organization.
  • Lead the evolution of infrastructure and platform services toward an infrastructure-as-a-product model, enabling scalable, secure, and self-service capabilities that accelerate application delivery and operational efficiency.
  • Champion automation, infrastructure-as-code, policy-as-code, and operational standardization to reduce manual effort, improve consistency, and increase delivery speed.
  • Partner closely with Engineering, Cybersecurity, Product, and business leaders to ensure infrastructure services align with enterprise priorities, security standards, and operational objectives.
  • Ensure infrastructure platforms are secure by design through strong identity management, segmentation, patching, hardening, encryption, monitoring, and zero-trust principles.
  • Lead and develop high-performing global infrastructure teams across internal and offshore support models, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Drive operational maturity through investments in observability, capacity planning, reliability engineering, proactive monitoring, and service management best practices.
  • Oversee vendor relationships, managed services providers, cloud partners, telecommunications providers, and strategic technology suppliers to ensure performance, accountability, innovation, and cost effectiveness.
  • Manage infrastructure financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and cost optimization efforts, including cloud and platform spend management.
  • Lead infrastructure integration activities related to mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, and enterprise transformation initiatives.
  • Provide executive-level reporting, operational updates, risk visibility, and strategic recommendations to senior leadership.

Additional Knowledge and Skills
  • Strong executive presence with the ability to communicate effectively across technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Proven leadership capability in fast-paced, highly dynamic operational environments.
  • Strong vendor management, contract negotiation, and technology partnership experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to balance strategic planning with operational execution and delivery accountability.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and decision-making skills.
  • Experience operating within ITIL-aligned service management environments preferred.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% as needed.

Availability to support escalations, critical incidents, and operational events outside standard business hours as required.
Qualifications
Minimum Education and/or Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • 10+ years of progressive IT experience, including 7+ years leading enterprise infrastructure and operations teams within complex, multi-site, 24/7 environments.
  • Proven experience leading large-scale infrastructure modernization and transformation initiatives while maintaining operational stability and service continuity.
  • Significant hands-on experience operating enterprise-scale workloads across major cloud platforms, including AWS, Microsoft Azure, and/or Google Cloud Platform.
  • Strong technical foundation across enterprise networking, cloud architecture, virtualization, storage, compute, security, and distributed infrastructure environments.
  • Experience supporting globally distributed environments, including edge locations, telecommunications providers, SD-WAN, and enterprise connectivity services.
  • Experience with modern infrastructure and automation technologies, including Kubernetes, container platforms, Terraform, Ansible, observability platforms, and infrastructure-as-code tooling.
  • Proven accountability for uptime, availability, resiliency, and operational performance across mission-critical enterprise services.
  • Experience leading incident management, disaster recovery, business continuity, and operational response functions within high-availability environments.
  • Demonstrated success building and leading high-performing technical teams across internal and outsourced support models.
