Job description
- Zumba, Cycle, Bootcamp/HIIT, Water Aerobics specialties encouraged and preferred. Year round and seasonal positions available!
- Must be at least 18 years old
- At least one year of experience teaching group wellness preferred.
- Required certifications: CPR, First Aid, AED, national certification (ACE, NETA, AFAA, NASM) in group fitness or YMCA Foundations of Group Exercise
- Certification in areas of expertise.
- YMCA Healthy Lifestyles certification within 60 days of hire.
- Leads energizing, fun, safe and educational group fitness class as directed by the supervisor to accomplish the YMCA mission and goals.
- Answers questions from members to support them in achieving their goals related to healthy living.
- Maintains working knowledge of wellness and trends to provide effective information and support to members.
- Behaves in a professional manner and exemplifies a healthy lifestyle and shows a genuine interest and dedication to improve health, fitness and skill to other.
- Works as a team player, supporting co-workers and supporting the mission of the YMCA in the community.
- Builds effective, authentic relationships with members; helps members connect with each other and the YMCA.
- Keeps accurate class attendance
- Knows and abides by YMCA policies, facility policies, accident/incident reports, code of conduct, etc.
- Starts and ends classes on time and arrives 5 – 7 minutes before class to set up
- Put away all equipment and makes sure the condition of the room is clean
- Attends all YMCA staff meetings, department meetings, and staff trainings as assigned
- Other duties as assigned.
- Ability to conduct classes and activities.
- Ability to perform all physical aspects of the position; including leading class, walking, standing, bending, reaching, and lifting, high or low impact movements.
