Upper Valley Medical Center

Occupational Therapist Assistant

  • PRN: 7:30am-6pm or 8am-6:30pm at longest (varies)
  • Troy outpatient clinic

Under the supervision of the Rehabilitation Services Department Supervisor and in accordance with established policies and procedures, the Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) collaborates closely with the Occupational Therapist to deliver patient-centered care.ย 

The COTA communicates patient status and changes promptly, schedules consultations as needed, and consults with the Occupational Therapist prior to modifying treatment plans. Responsibilities include administering treatments based on evaluations or reassessments, completing documentation accurately and on time, and maintaining departmental productivity standards.ย 

The COTA delegates appropriate tasks to unlicensed personnel, participates in patient case management, and supports daily departmental operations through both clinical and non-clinical duties. Additional expectations include participation in departmental, hospital, or community programs and meetings, as well as teaching, orienting, training, supervising, and mentoring staff, volunteers, observers, and at least one student annually.

Education/Certification:

  • Associate Degree from an accredited two-year college program for Certified Occupational Therapist Assistants required.
  • Currently licensed as a COTA in the state of Ohio required.
  • BLS Certification within 30 days of hire

Qualifications:

  • Abides by the Code of Ethical Conduct as defined by the Code of Ethics by the AOTA.
  • Requires effective communication and the analytical skills necessary to implement planned treatment programs, identifying changes in patient's condition, and adjusting activities accordingly.
  • Demonstrates acceptable work performance by exhibiting a positive and constructive attitude, initiative, dependability, cooperation, and skill in verbal and written expression.
