Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Senior Java Developer to support significant technical transformation and modernization of core technology infrastructure. The role will focus on developing large-scale Java applications while leveraging AI-assisted engineering workflows across the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). The ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in Java, Spring, cloud technologies, microservices, AI/ML, and modern software engineering practices.
Key Responsibilities
• Design, develop, and maintain large-scale enterprise applications using Java and Spring frameworks.
• Develop highly available systems capable of supporting high-volume transactions.
• Build and maintain cloud-native microservices and containerized applications.
• Support modernization initiatives involving migration from legacy platforms to distributed architectures.
• Apply GenAI coding assistants across implementation, refactoring, testing, code reviews, automation, troubleshooting, and documentation.
• Utilize AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot and Claude Code within IDE and CLI-based development workflows.
• Apply agentic workflows, spec-driven development, custom instructions, and prompt engineering to software development activities.
• Translate technical designs, class structures, API contracts, and data models into structured specifications for AI-assisted implementation.
• Establish and promote effective team-level AI-assisted development practices.
• Develop and integrate AI/ML solutions and Large Language Models (LLMs) into production applications.
• Develop and integrate web services supporting enterprise applications.
• Support CI/CD processes and cloud-based application deployments.
• Collaborate with developers, architects, and cross-functional teams to deliver scalable technical solutions.
• Provide technical guidance and leadership to engineering teams.
• Maintain high standards for code quality, validation, testing, and engineering practices.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience developing large-scale applications using Java, Spring frameworks, cloud technologies, and web services.
• 2+ years of hands-on experience with AI/ML implementation and production deployment.
• 6+ years of experience with containers and cloud-based microservices.
• 6+ years of experience with cloud deployment using CI/CD practices.
• 2+ years of experience with Pivotal Cloud Foundry (PCF), AWS, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• 2+ years of experience with MongoDB, Aerospike, PostgreSQL, or similar databases.
• 2+ years of experience with IT transformation and legacy system modernization initiatives.
• Experience modernizing legacy platforms such as Mainframe COBOL/DB2 into Java-based distributed applications using SQL, MongoDB, or similar technologies.
• Hands-on experience with Large Language Models such as GPT-5, Claude, Gemini, or PaLM.
• Practical experience with GenAI coding assistants such as GitHub Copilot or Claude Code.
• Working knowledge of agentic workflows, spec-driven development, and prompt engineering.
• Understanding of broker-dealer capabilities and operations.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and technical leadership skills.
Preferred Qualifications
• Master's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• Knowledge of messaging technologies such as RabbitMQ, Kafka, or equivalent.
• Experience within the financial services industry.
• Experience with Test-Driven Development (TDD), QA automation, and quality engineering practices.
• Experience developing Visio diagrams, architecture documentation, design documentation, and functional and technical specifications.
• Experience documenting production and test environments.
• Knowledge of Agile methodologies and experience working in Agile environments.
• Experience with Atlassian tools, including Jira and Confluence.
