Job description

Position Summary
The Dental Health Informatics Training and Development Specialist is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive training programs for electronic health record (EHR) end-users within the UIC College of Dentistry. This role ensures that faculty, staff, students, and residents are effectively onboarded, trained, and supported in utilizing EHR systems for both clinical and academic purposes.
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Evaluate training needs of all EHR end-users and develop tailored solutions by applying new ideas in areas of content design, content management, and eLearning/multimedia tool usage.
  • Design, update, and deliver instructor-led, online, and blended learning curricula (including e-learning modules, printed materials, tip sheets, in-person sessions).
  • Manage onboarding and offboarding processes for faculty, staff, students, and residents in the EHR system in collaboration with UIHealth.
  • Provide ongoing EHR training and support as needed to all stakeholders.
  • Create and maintain educational environments and training content within the EHR for academic use.
  • Develop, manage, and update a digital repository of all training materials.
  • Assist faculty in educating students (i.e. lectures, demonstrations, ect.) in the academic-use environment of the EHR.
  • Supervise and train the "Superuser" cohort to enhance system support.
  • Collaborates with subject matter experts, compliance, clients, colleagues, and senior leaders regarding the development and editing of content to meet COD department and UIC Strategic Goals.
  • Collaborate with Epic and UIHealth Informatic Systems team to align training resources and techniques.
  • Will participate in clinical or preclinical teaching activities of predoctoral students as appropriate to expertise and needs of the COD.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
