Our next store opens in San Jose later this year. We are already the largest purveyor of Indian Street Food in the US and are primed for growth in 2015 and beyond...
Our food and concept is fresh, fast and bursting with flavor. We offer contemporary food menus along with a large Gluten-Free, Vegan & Vegetarian menus.
Job Description
Mortar & Pestle, the craft cocktail bar at Curry Up Now San Mateo opened earlier this year to rave reviews. We are the premier craft cocktail bar in the Peninsula. We are looking for a Beverage Director-Head Bartender to help run the bar in San Mateo as well as oversee and manage the low proof cocktail programs at our San Francisco and Palo Alto locations. Our next restaurant opens in San Jose later this year with a huge bar program. The Beverage Director will manage all 4 bars.
Qualifications
You must be passionate about cocktails with at least 3 years of bartending experience and 1 year of management experience. This job comes with the responsibility of not only intimately managing Mortar & Pestle in San Mateo but also the low proof programs at the other locations. This position presents an opportunity to our new employee to further enhance his/her craft cocktail skills while working with BitterCube, our bar consultants.

REQUIRED SKILLS
  • Lift, Push, Shove up to 75lbs
  • Have excellent communication and organization skills
  • Reading, writing and oral proficiency in the English language
  • Willing to work a flexible schedule and holidays
  • Be a self-motivator and motivator of others
  • Work in a safe, prudent and organized manner
  • Have an in-depth knowledge of house made syrups, bitters, tinctures etc.
  • Have a in-depth knowledge of craft beers, cocktails and wine
  • Be able to relate to all levels of guests and management
  • Have a minimum of 3 years experience in similar position, preferably in a similar craft cocktail environment with 1 year as a manager
  • Have the ability to handle multiple tasks at one time
  • Have the ability to handle guest requests in a detailed manner
  • Must have excellent attention to details, and extensive service knowledge
  • Be able to drive to all our locations
  • Be available to close San Mateo restaurant no less than 1-2 times a week
