COBOL programmers are responsible for writing, maintaining, and updating code in COBOL to support critical business applications, especially in sectors like banking, insurance, and government. They often work on mainframe computers and handle tasks such as modifying legacy systems, debugging, and ensuring ongoing compatibility with modern technologies. Despite its age, COBOL remains crucial for many organizations because of the reliability and scale of the systems it supports.
