Job description

Genesis10 is currently seeking a Mainframe COBOL Developer - Remote position with a Global Financial Institution located in Charlotte, NC, Plano, TX or Pennington, NJ. This is a 12+ month contract opportunity.
This role focuses on production support for mission-critical mainframe applications. The ideal candidate will leverage extensive experience in COBOL, JCL, and DB2 to perform troubleshooting, incident management, and problem resolution within a fast-paced financial services environment. This position involves taking ownership of escalations and ensuring operational readiness for key systems.
Responsibilities:
  • Perform Problem/Incident Management, Operational Readiness, Application Monitoring, Service Analytics and Reporting, Production Governance, Triage, and Change Configuration Management
  • Take ownership of escalations and perform troubleshooting, analysis, research, and resolution using advanced query and programming skills
  • Resolve production down situations under SLA deadlines, including root cause analysis and problem resolution follow-up
  • Proactively identify, escalate, and address project issues and risks
  • Coordinate with offshore/onshore teams and delegate work

Requirements:
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience as a COBOL developer
  • Proficiency in COBOL, JCL, VSAM, DB2, CICS, IMS DB, IMS DC, MQ Series, and Easytrieve
  • Experience with Endeavor and IBM problem determination tools such as File Manager and Fault Analyzer
  • Experience in Production Support, change management, and use of incident management tools
  • Experience with SQL Database query language
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and an entrepreneurial attitude

Desired skills:
  • Exposure to REXX
  • Experience with the banking or financial industry
  • Experience with Splunk and other monitoring tools

Pay range: $55.06 - $63.06 per hour
