Job description

JOB SUMMARY:
Cleans and maintains orderly condition of coal handling facility areas including inside and outside premises of buildings and grounds as assigned. Duties involve a combination of the following: sweeping, dusting, shoveling, washing coal conveyor belts and using a wheel barrow as required. There will be heavy
lifting in the process of removing refuse and debris. The dusting duties will include high dusting of fixtures, equipment and designated structures. This job requires working as a team member to accomplish tasks and will be working at locations at great heights over grated flooring. There will be use of high
elevation walkways and catwalks to access areas to be cleaned. Also may include using water hoses or pressure washers to wash coal conveyor belts, work zones and equipment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Sweeps, cleans floors using water hoses, and walkways.
  • Washes beams and other accumulation areas removing coal dust and operations debris. 
  • Must be able to lift 50-75lbs on a regular basis 
  • Must be dependable. Be at work on time and work the assigned schedule and have good attendance 
  • Cleans and helps maintain floors within conveyor buildings, transfer houses, and electric rooms
  • Keeps his equipment properly cleaned and ready for use for the next day or shift’s use. 
  • Reports repair and safety concern needs to the supervisor daily. 
  • Participates in ISO practices and embraces ISO principles and philosophies in the performance of principal duties and responsibilities.
    9) Makes Safety the first consideration above all other responsibilities. Follows all safety rules and uses sound judgement for the protection of  him/herself, co-workers, client personnel, general public and property. Participates in safety training and attends safety meetings as scheduled by supervisor. Also responsible for reporting unsafe conditions or practices.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Education and Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred but not required. A minimum of one (1) year of related experience in a similar service related position preferred but not required.


Language Skills:
Ability to speak simple sentences, to read and interpret safety rules and to read chemical labels.

Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions.


Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
All licenses and industry certifications as required by local and/or state jurisdictions.


Other Skills and Abilities:
Ability to operate all trade tools and equipment.
