Job description

Position Overview
Kent Place School is seeking a mathematics teacher leader to inspire upper school girls to develop their interests in math and pursue futures in STEM fields. We seek individuals who enjoy collaborating with colleagues, demonstrate personal initiative to innovate in their teaching practice, demonstrate commitment to inspiring students in classroom practice and curricular development, and are interested in growing as a teacher and becoming a teacher-leader. Candidates should have a keen interest in using math to investigate and answer interdisciplinary questions in both the natural and social sciences. The candidate would join a math department committed to inquiry-based learning and to using assessment to develop girls' love of learning, confidence, and mathematical proficiency.
Skills and Experience
  • Candidates with teaching experience in higher-level mathematics, particularly AP Statistics, will be prioritized.
  • Experience with curriculum writing and teaching in an integrated math sequence at the high school level is a plus.
  • Depending upon curricular development experience and coaching faculty in instructional practice, department leadership (Chair) may be a potential with this position.

Collaboration and School Community
  • Ability to collaborate with colleagues across academic departments, particularly in the STEM fields.
  • Experience leading activities that broaden student interest in design thinking and creative problem-solving.
  • Willingness to support students in their mathematical learning in and outside of class time.
  • Enthusiasm for advising US students and participating in community events.

Required and Preferred Background
  • Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, or a related field is required.
  • Master's degree in Mathematics, a related field, or Education/Teaching is preferred.
  • A minimum of 3 years of prior teaching experience is preferred.
  • Experience or a strong disposition towards research-based strategies in teaching in STEM fields to empower girls.
