Description
Sterile Services Co. (SSC) is hiring a Medical Materiel Specialist (MMS) to support the Naval Medical Readiness Logistics Command (NMRLC) mission in Williamsburg, VA. This role supports medical logistics, warehouse receiving, inventory management, stock control, shipping and distribution, kitting/packing, and materiel accountability for deployable medical platforms and allowance lists (TOA / AMAL / ADAL). The MMS performs day-to-day warehouse operations and uses DMLSS (Defense Medical Logistics Standard Support) and/or HIMS (or other DoD-approved systems) for data entry, transactions, and inventory reconciliation.
Requirements
  • Execute warehouse operations including receiving, shipping, stowing, picking, packing, kitting, inventory, cycle counts, and turn-in/disposal.
  • Perform receiving operations: unload trucks, inspect shipments, verify packing slips/BOL, document shortages/damages/overages, label items, and route to staging and storage locations.
  • Conduct inventory control and stock accountability tasks including location audits, shelf-life checks, annual inventories, discrepancy research, and corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate records in DMLSS/HIMS, including receipts, issues, transfers, adjustments, and QA message actions.
  • Support readiness by performing platform stowing, kitting, and PPP&C (Pick, Pack, Preserve & Crate) operations for medical sets and deployable modules.
  • Identify and remove expired/outdated medical materiel, maintain shelf-life management, and support quality assurance documentation.
  • Operate Material Handling Equipment (MHE) such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and other warehouse equipment; maintain certification as required.
  • Follow all SOPs, safety procedures, PPE requirements, hazardous material handling rules, and warehouse organization standards.
  • Maintain clean, organized work areas and support general warehouse housekeeping.

Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma (or equivalent).
  • 3-5+ years of experience in warehouse operations, logistics, supply chain, distribution, inventory management, or stock control.
  • Experience with inventory systems such as DMLSS, HIMS, SAP, GCSS, DPAS, or comparable ERP/logistics systems.
  • Ability to perform frequent walking/standing/bending/reaching and lift/carry 45+ lbs.
  • Ability to operate or obtain certification for forklift / MHE.
  • Valid U.S. driver's license.
  • Strong attention to detail; ability to process transactions accurately and maintain documentation.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced warehouse environment with throughput goals and production standards.
  • Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Medical logistics / medical warehouse experience (pharmaceutical, controlled items, temperature-sensitive items, medical equipment, supply rooms, or hospital warehouse).
  • Direct experience supporting NMRLC, Navy logistics, EXMED, AMAL/ADAL, or deployable medical systems.
  • Experience with SAP, inventory reconciliation, demand planning, and discrepancy resolution.
  • Knowledge of shelf-life program management and quality assurance message processing.
  • Forklift certification and experience with warehouse operations in a high-volume distribution environment.
  • Military logistics background or veteran status strongly preferred.

Salary Description
$22.38/hr + (H&W $5.09/hr)
